I’m KINDA in the market for a new vehicle. Not new, but new to me. I don’t know anything about Land Rovers, but the trade in value on NADA.com was over 20k.
Really? Well I guess that makes sense. I’m used to my Suburban so I’m in the market for a taller SUV. I figured I’d keep my options open, but 20k on a reliable vehicle truck is better than 10k on a piece of crap.
Do you really want a car, which an admitted Land Rover fanatic (Jeremy Clarkson of TopGear fame), has dubbed the least reliable car in the world? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_gear_bolivia_special Granted they are talking about an older model, but the sentiment towards those cars prevails. So, unless you’re looking to drive through the swamps rather than around them, maybe look at something different.
Anytime the price varies that much from the NADA or Black book value I assume it is an accident repair (i.e. insurance company called it a write-off, garage buys cheap and rebuilds itself).
I sold cars for a few years in the 90’s and used to have customers ask us about this sort of deal all the time.
