Whats up with these electrical massage things?

I just saw an ad on the sidebar and my budy was talking about getting one a few weeks ago.

what is it supposed to do, and does it really do it?

For those that don’t know what I’m talking about, it is that machine with sticky pads that you place on your body and it send electrical pulses to that area.

My guess is that it causes the muscle to contract/decontract. I remember seeing informercials about those types of machines a few years back as one of those get buff quick scams. I suppose it’s supposed to increase bloodflow to the muscle and aid recovery?

When I was in high school (23 years ago (these things have been around for a long time)) a friend’s mom had one (why?) and we used to attach the pads to our temples and see who could take the highest power level. It was awesome. It didn’t cost us any money.

Also id you put the pads on a certain spot on the back of your neck it makes your vision all wavy.

I know PTs use them, but not for “massage”. The electrical pulses cause the muscles to contract without you having to move. After my shoulder surgery they used them on me to stimulate the rotator cuff when I was immobilized by A/C separation.

It would seem the opposite of massage to me, but I am not a salesman.

Sounds like you knew exactly what they were for. I would also have a hard time not testing them out on every body part to see what happens.

I dare you. You know where I’m talking about.
