Won’t having aerobars and “closing the cup” save them more than a few seconds?
And STIs with cowhorns?!

.
That’s the old setup. Put on a 650 front wheel and you got Fignon in '89.
Q: Which one of these guys spent any time in a wind tunnel?
A: The same one who is not using these goofy bars.
Is levi any wider or any less bent over than say rider #2, which is a function of length anyway, not the bars. The bars do have less exposed outside the riders body, which could be more aero, but wouldn’t help when standing and cranking on the bars.
Lol. Touche.

they 2 guys with aerobars seem to have their elbows as far apart as the guys who don’t. Might be a parallax error though, can’t say for sure.
Thing is, even if your elbow were tied together, the wind will still hit your shoulders, hips, knees etc. I don’t think it makes these bull horns any better, but I doubt they are any worse.
from his diary on cyclingnews.com:
"We came to ride the course a couple months ago and we’re using special equipment. Most of the guys are using special team time trial handlebars. I’m not because I’ve chosen to adjust my normal time trial bars a little wider instead. This way I can stay in them the entire time and still handle my bike.
Making them wider makes the entire team more aero even though it doesn’t really make the individual rider aero on the front. "

Guys, I believe that TTT (Techno Turbo Torino) made bars just like this for the Italian 100K Team Time Trial for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Can’t remember who won, but it was the Italians and the Germans sharing the top two spots on the Podium.
