Are they only making the Slice 4 and Slice 5? Did they stop making the Hi-Mod?
The Cannondale website only shows the Slice 4 spec’d with Force at an MSRP of $3,100 and a Slice 5 spec’d with 105 for $2,450.

from the rumors and different pictures of the NEW Cannondale Slice RS, i say they are no longer producing the Slice Hi Mod, or the others.
btw, Nytro.com has them on clearance for cheaper.
The Hi-Mod Slice is listed in the 2012 dealer book and consumer catalog…apparently, Cannondale is switching to the new Slice design mid-season for its high-end version tri bike

Which 2012 dealer book and consumer catalogue would that be? Not any we’ve received…

.
My mistake, I grabbed the wrong book. Not to worry though, look for the Slice RS come spring…likely based on EVO technology.
Thanks. Guess I will be getting Speed Concept now. Cannondale was in the running (because I could get a sweet deal and it fit) but I dont want to wait until spring.
Personally, I would wait. Go to BikeRumor.com and search Slice RS or CyclingNews.com and search Cannondale Slice…

I can’t believe after all this time they’d come up with THAT. There are so many things wrong with it - it’s an aero brick!

I know it’s all about fit and aerodynamics but that is one hideous bike. It looks like they designed it then realized no one included a seat post.

That is not the final version. Check out the Liquigas/Cannondale site or FB page…just today they posted photos of the Slice EVO. It is beautiful!

The seat post still looks like an afterthought. IMO it really takes a lot away from the looks and appeal of the bike. So, unless cannondale releases a whitepaper explaining how the alien seat post reduces drag substantially over the competitions well thought out integrated seat posts this is one bike I won’t be considering.
Otherwise it’s a nice looking bike.

It does look odd, but a smaller aero cross section is more aero than a larger aero cross section. And between your thighs can be one area where air is funneled.
I would think the smallest you can make the seatpost the better. That goes for all of the frame members, but the practicalities of making a stiff , strong frame limit how small most of them can be.
From what I hear, that seatpost is the most aero they could do and still fall under UCI 3:1 ratio. I am with you though, have some sort of adapter so you can switch to the UCI legal post if you need to go that direction. 99% of the people that will buy that bike are using it for triathlon and 50% of those people won’t buy it because of how dumb it looks. Lets face it, most consumers buy bikes that they like to look at. If it happens to be aero then it’s a win/win.
You stick a “cervelo type” areo seat post on that bike and it would look so sick. And only then would I actually consider upgrading from my current Slice. Until then I will save my $5k and lose my 40 secs per 40k…
I disagree in regrards to people buying based on looks. Take me for example, I made a list of features I want in my new tribike. Here they are in order of importance. Color, overall aesthetics, price, did I mention color, how I look on the bike, my helmet has to match the color of the bike and my shoes both of which Ialready have, areodynamics and fit. With the combination above I expect to be able to increase my IM pace from 14.2 mph to at least 14.8 mph, possibly 15 mph.
And that is why you see so many Orbeas on the roads and in races. They fit 90% of the uneducated triathletes “criteria” for bike buying. Black, looks cool and rides like an aero brick.

A nice video explaining the design.
I think there is an opportunity for Cannondale with the seatpost and the “ledge” behind it, for a storage a la speed concept, that could be appealing to triathletes. Not sure how yet, but looking at Weiss’s Slice RS in Hawaii, with the SRM telemetry thing, made me think that it could work somehow, and make it more tri geek friendly.
Just a thought.

I like that thought.
