What's the next race your getting ready for?

Just wondering what people are setting as their next race and race goal. I don’t exactly know what I want to do next, thinking about Sobe Mossman Traithlon or the Las vegas Triathlon, or the EX2 Triathlon, I am defintelyt doing the Moab century bike ride. That should be alot of fun. What is everyone’s goal for their next race, just ot finish, under a certain time, or come in a certain place… Let’s hear it

i’m heading to durango this weekend for the ironhorse bike race (47 miles, 5,000 ft elevation gain) and it tops out at like 11,000 ft! should be some pain in the forecast. hoping to go around 2hrs and 30-40 min. i think Tom Danielson has the record at like 2hr 8 min.!!! and then i’m running the Bolder Boulder 10k on monday (hoping to break 36 min.) ( i went 36:34 last year).

goal = ??? (to finish having gave my all)

My “A race” this summer is Ironman USA Lake Placid. Looking to beat my course PR of 11:58 (2002).

I am also racing this weekend at HFP Little Smokies. Sort of an early season tune up / glorified training day.

Curious to know which ST’ers have IMUSA on their schedule this year. Also, who’s doing Little Smokies this weekend and how are you approaching the race? Between the fact that it’s early in the season (for us northerners) and the Triple-T is going on at the same time, I think this is going to be a cozy affair - I heard they only have about 100 or so athletes for the event.

I’ll be volunteering at Escape from Alcatraz next weekend. Then, racing a 40K TT the following weekend. After that, the Tour de France!!

Next on my list is the 5430 1/2 IM in Boulder. Will be training through it so no real goal except to finish strong…well, and maybe meet Gordo, who is also racing.

Before that, will be heading up the volunteers at the Deuces Wild Tri Festival in Show Low, AZ in June. Gotta support the first real tri in my hometown. It’s on the Party Tour, so might even get to chat with Slowman and crew. Looking forward to it! Check it out at http://www.trisportsracing.com/ Guaranteed to be big fun!!!

CapTex sprint in Austin, TX on Monday. I’m a slacker this year. This will be my 3rd sprint of the year. One more sprint in June, then moving up to Olys in July & Aug, then a half in Oct. My only time goal for CapTex is to beat last year’s time.

Prep race = QuarterMax in St.Louis…

then Tri Long Course Worlds’ in Sweden and Du Long Course Worlds’ in Denmark

then a couple of Adventure Races in the fall… still need a woman if anyone is interested? alot of MTB’ing

Lake Mills WI sprint distance. Modest goal of MOP. Based on last years times I think that should be a bit under 1h25min.

Infiterra Twilight Quest adventure race in MI. I think the town is called White Lake. Heck of a drive for me, but it seems cool. It’s a sprint distance event (10hours) that starts at 10pm so you’re racing at night. I’m racing in the solo category. While I won the last AR I did, I think I got lucky. Typically my goals for AR are (in this order): 1. Have a good time, 2. Finish, 3. Not finish last, 4. Finish in the top 50%.

Another AR and Oly are up in the air.

As an aside if anyone is familiar with the Highland Recreational Area where the Twilight Quest is, please contact me.

Eagleman. I’m so undertrained on the bike it’s pathetic. I’ve only gone 50+ on the bike 3 or 4 times this year, but those rides were very hilly whereas Eagleman is dead flat. I have two more 60-70 mile rides to do this weekend, then will taper a bit. In my first race last weekend I was surprisingly strong on the bike (only 24 miles, though), so I’m hoping to pull this off without too much embarrasment, except for the swim, of course, because I suck at swimming. It’s a big race, so hopefully there will be lots of slow people there. :-/

High Cliff Half IM in Appleton, Wisconsin. First race of the year.

It’s a first-year event. Good venue. Good race director. Hopefully it will be a nice event.

I’m gonna suffer, though.

Buffalo Trails Du this weekend, finishing faster than last year and then The Great Buckeye Challenge in August, the Du course. I just want to finish the GBC.

3 Disciplines American Express Explorer Seahorse Triathlon in Kalamazoo on June 6th.

I’ve been preparing by sleeping in and eating.

Du nationals in Aug. I’m doing the work to finish higher than my previous 6th place in my AG. But a couple of TT’s before that, that pay $ and the dannon duathlon in UT.

Also doing Eagleman with a few others on June 13th. My first long course so it is sure to be a PR. I’m in the best shape of my life so we will see what happens. Last years swim times have me a little concerned, but it looks like the bike is super fast.

Hey Quadzilla

I am doing IMLP and also headed down to the TTT. I am hoping to approach it as a monster brick session. I fear that I will probably go a little hard on Fri and Sat which will leave me flat on Sunday’s Half IM. I figure we still have 8 weeks to go until IMLP, so if i totally nuke myself I will have plenty of time to recover. Good Luck down there on Sun… the hills are naaaasty!

This is the race that I was thinking about doiing next. What do you think about the race? I love the fact that they have integrated the xterra race and the road race. It sounds really cool. Where is the best place to stay in that area?

David J

What TT’s will you be doing? Are they in the phoenix area or anywhere in Arizona? Where would I find more inofrmation about these races? Trying to do my first time trial and get it out of the way.
