What's the minimum useful training time?

30 min? 45 min? an hour? from an exercise phys standpoint, i know the answer, i’m just wondering what people are doing for IM, 1/2 IM, etc. I’ve recently found that i’m doing 2/day workouts, but most are only b/w 30-45 min. i’m kinda getting frustrated w/ this approach as it takes as much time to change, shower, etc. as it does to workout. What sort of strategies are ya’ll using to get in the requisite training time?

Well, I only do sprint distances. I try to get in 5 hours a week spread over 3-4 days a week. I would prefer 7-8 hours (5 days a week), but some weeks don’t allow for that. What distance are you planning on doing? After every bike ride I run for about 10-20 minutes. That helps get some running out of the way. (I also do it because I am recovering from ITBS and running off the bike ensures that my legs/knees are properly warmed up to take the pavement pounding)

I don’t shower.

It’s not the cumulative time thats critical, it’s the quality of what you do with what you have…

i train once a day, and it’s anywhere from one hour to 3 (or more depending if I’m doing a long ride). the last three weeks it’s been about 4 times a week, but next week i’ll get back to 5 to 6 training days per week. generally the quality versus quantity has always worked for me.
