What's the medicine behind wearing a Cho-Pat on your knee?

to ward off ITBS?

How in the world would an outside brace or wrap or outside pressure do anything more than keep pressure onto the band at the very part of the knee, in which everything needs to be opened up, away from that condyle?

In fact, would it not make worse the situation?

My understanding of the mechanics of the IT band is that it tries to turn your femur counter clockwise, toward your midline. You can’t lock that band down from keeping it from doing its job. Or can you? Does that strap do that?

You can even flex your knee and the IT band, come hell or high water, is going to move across the condyle on the knee.

How would a wrap or a brace or a cho pat thing, stop that?

“The original patented Cho-Pat Knee Strap was designed by an orthotist to alleviate pain and discomfort associated with chondromalacia, patella iliotibial band syndrome, patellar tendonitis and Osgood-Schlatter’s disease. It works by applying slight pressure upon the patellar tendon thereby reducing patellar subluxation/dislocation and improves patella tracking and elevation”

It was 20 something dollars of no medicine for me. Didn’t do a thing but smell bad after 2 or 3 runs.

It helps with tracking of the patella. Tape is way cheaper.
