I guess now the question is, which pair is the best?
I’m planning my tri wardrobe for the year and I need a new pair of Tri-shorts for competing in. My theme color’s this year are pretty much going to be blue and yellow with a generic option for black or maybe white.
In your experience (oh wise slowtwitchers) what is your favorite tri-short? And why?
There have been a lot of new entries into the tri short world this year. Here’s my .02 cents.
Cervelo: Excellent pad, longer inseam. Prolly best pad in the industry. A little long for my taste personally, but our sustomers like them. Sizing is bizarre. I wear an XS.
Pearl Izumi: Also Excellent, prolly best as a bike short though- still good for running though. Fit true to size and flattering pattern. Very good. I wear their medium at 150 lbs with a 30 inch waist.
Sugoi: Is best. Unique Tehcnifine fabirc and ultra-mini pad dry super fast and fit great. Excellent for running and riding. Five stars. My favorites right now.
Voler: Makers of our new Bikesport uniform. Honestly, the jury is still out. I hope they work. If they don’t it will be a big, $5000 mistake on my part.
There are a million more: DeSoto (excellent), QR, Cannondale (surprisingly good) and more. Lots to choose from, none really bad- all quite good.
we had Voler do our team stuff for the last couple of years for the bike team, and last year for tri team and I’ve liked both shorts… I was surprised by the quality of the tri stuff and liked racing in them
Sorry to kill the thread early, but I just broke down and hit tri-zone.
Discounted speedo razor short for $18
and a discontinued RNH tri-short same price.
This will either be a freakin good deal, or I may end up pulling an anti-recordti
“Dude, my balls are superburnt.”
Will keep ya posted.
I also had a chance to try on the Sugoi Wireless Tank over the weekend. The fabric & fit is excellent. The only drawback, is that the jersey does not have a drop tail at the back. I currently wear a separate top & bottom during races. I was just wondering if not having the droptail in the Sugoi jersey would give me a case of sunburn on my lower back while riding in the aerobars. Would it be wise to go with the fullsuit? Could you please help me with the pros & cons of 2-piece vs, 1-piece. Thanks
Our Degree bike shorts are made by Voler and so are the E-cap shorts i wear. I like them both - much more than the Pearl Izumi which I think has way too much padding. Feels like a diaper.
I have a Voler tri skinsuit and love it. More comfy than my desoto shorts. My cycling team had Voler do our order too and I just tacked on a tri skinsuit. Very happy with it.
ive tried zoot, desoto, louis garneu, orca, and pearl izumi tri shorts. For some reason zoot and desoto dont agree with me much, not comfy on long rides, chaffing from seems, etc… The orcas dont have much of pad, but comfy for short races or rides, but really nice for running. The LG’s are good for run/rides, just too short for longer rides. The Pearl Izumi are the best to date, comfy for long rides and runs, no chaffing, no too tight etc… I will probably wear the louis garneu for short races and the Pearls for longer races.
