What's the best training videos: pain cave, sufferfest other?

I’m looking for new indoor training videos to work on my cycling fitness over the winter. I’ve heard both Pain Cave and Sufferfest are good. Is one better than the other? Any other online videos you would recommend?

I love Sufferfest. I pretty much have them all…

That being said, make sure you either dial them down from time to time or do other types of workouts. They tend to be high intensity and relying only on them might burn you out.

Sufferfest is awesome. They now have a monthly program where you can use any/all of their videos unlimited for $10 a month. Might be worth to subscribe for a month and test them out.

I’m having a hard time finding this option on their website. Please point me to it so I may start suffering!

.

The subscribe option is only for their iOS or Android app - so Phone/Tablet only… and if I read the description right, it streams the video vs downloading it (makes sense for DRM)… but it requires fast internet to do so.

Any chance it works with chromecast. Would be awesome to stream from my phone to TV.

Sufferfest is great, but I actually prefer the Spinervals by a slight margin. Yes, they’re old school, and not of outdoor racing, but it’s really the coaching prompts that make it the workout for me. Coach Troy yelling “PUSSSHSHH!” into your ear until he goes hoarse has always been a lot more motivating for me than the “vroom-vroom” of the Sufferfest video, plus, you can just literally close your eyes and near-blackout from going so hard on Spinervals without watching the screen thanks to Coach Troy’s instructions.

Both are excellent though, and in general, people seem to like Sufferfest better. (The music is sweet on Sufferfest!)

Don’t know about the iOS version, but I bet the Google Play version probably is since its Google.

I have almost every sufferfest vid. They are awesome. Like the other poster said, They do tend to be high intensity and shorter duration. A few good lower intensity longer ones are ISLAGIATT (it seemed like a good idea at the time), Hell Hath No fury and they have a tri specific one that you use a treadmill with and do 4 bricks.

When I do a long trainer ride I just watch a movie or IM Kona championship and just lock it in at 190 watts for the duration.

I’m with you - I like the audio cues on Spinervals as I’m usually head down in pain with eyes full of sweat. The locations are low rent, the participants are often hilarious, the music is cheesy but the sets do the job. I also like the mix of aerobic and higher intensity options.

I’ve got them all loaded on a pre-historic laptop on a shelf in my shed. I barely look at the screen but Coach Troy yelling at me is what I’m there for.

x3. Coach Troy’s quips and encouragement are key to going deep on the hard work-outs. There are several Spinervals DVDs that I just dread, but the positive coaching gets me through them.
