Whats New...Mizuno Spring 2008

Whats New Mizuno Spring 08

Overview: New “Dynamotion Fit” feature being introduced in many models. The idea is that at heel strike most all shoes have a “gapping” that occurs when the heel hits the ground and deforms the midsole (but the upper around the heel counter doesnt conform) This new feature will create an area of “give” in the heel collar/cradle that adapts for this. This will be slowly introduced to the whole line… Improved “try on feel” by increasing thickness of AP sockliner slightly and in creation and nirvana added an extra eva pad over the lasting board………Assymetrical eyestays are being worked into the line, great idea as most all current shoes have symmetrical eyestays, yet the foot is not symmetrical. The boney architecture of the foot produces a very assymetrical shape that will try to be matched more closely by mizunos new design. This will gradually be fine tuned and worked in between now and 2009……New x10 rubber formulation for enhanced durability….All new track and field shoes……all shoes are a 1/5/08 release other than Rider and track/field and racing shoes which are all 12/5/07 releases…on to the shoes……

Wave Nirvana 4 msrp stays $135 New upper with 2 layer dynamotion fit heel unit. Same midsole/wave/outsole as N3 with new upper. Improved Try on feel as described above. New 3D tongue is attached to the upper in one spot, not fully gusseted as seen in trail shoes but will keep tongue in place better. Change in eyestay design should contour to foot better.

Inspire 4 msrp goes up to $95 New upper, same midsole/outsole/wave. Dynamotion heel stress release panel in heel. Increased sizes available now up to mens 16 and added womens 11.5 and 12 (they didn’t get catalog correct though as rhey failed to add these in catalog but are available). Increased sockliner thickness by 5mm Still offering mens and womens wide widths

Elixir 3 msrp Increased to $100 (warranted by lots of great improvements and it’s competitor’s prices) weight goes to 9.5 mens and 7.9 womens. Shallower toe box fit (supposed to be more performance feel) Midsole dropping to 22/10instead of 23/11 tighter heel fit with added dynamotion. Increased sockliner thickness. Great looking shoe, new combination G3 outsole of blown rubber (reminds me of old asics outsole that was on DST 7 ) New wave design creates a little more medial support than before and better midfoot support as well as improved 3 point flex through toe off.

Ascend 3 msrp increase to $90 new upper with dynamotion fit heel same midsole/outsole as Ascend 2. Unlike the Elixir it remains 23/11 GREAT colors for this shoe!

I think that is it…will work on images when I can…

Is it my imagination, or did the sizing on Mizuno shoes change? I normally wear a 10.5 shoe but an 11 in my Wave Inspires. My latest set of Wave Inspires look and feel a bit larger than my old ones. Did they change the sizing?

In Spring 07 they released shoes built on the new last, Rider 10, Inspire 3, Nirvana 3, and Creation 8 all are a wider platform in contact with ground, a wider toe box and a wider midfoot
.

shoot; I guess I should have tried mine on at the store - I’ve been getting Mizuno’s in size 11 for the last 6-years, so I did not think it would be necessary.

“a wider toe box and a wider midfoot”

That’s a real shame. I had to move to Brooks because Mizunos didn’t fit me anymore.

By “color up” you mean that the color changes but nothing else about the shoe does?

yes that is correct, just a new color
.

agreed. I loved the Rider 9 and couldn’t figure out why I hated the Rider 10 so much, until I read this post. I will never understand why shoe companies do this.
Were you in the Rider? Which Brooks did you switch to?

I’ve been in creations since I think 2002. I just got my first pair of Creations 8 and didn’t like them. I found the creation 7 at a discount and reordered.

I did keep the 8 as a walking around every day shoe but did got down a 1/2 size cause I felt like I was swimming in a size 10.

I’ve head the rider is an okay replacement for the creation so I think I’ll switch to that. I do love Mizunos though.

I was in the Alchemy 5 (bought them in bulk), then moved to the Adrenaline. I have about 60 miles on them, and so far, so good. Probably more support than I need, but they will do.
