Pretty sure the S5 takes this, but I wonder if anyone has any data to back it up.

I’ve heard rumblings that the Venge may not even be as fast as an S3…
I don’t have numbers on the second gen aero road bikes, but I can promise the s5 is the most aero road bike available. That said, does that mean it is the best road bike available? I don’t know. I just test rode an s5 and a foil back to back, I went into the ride very biased to the cervelo. After the test rides, the foil came out as the best bike I’ve ever ridden. I haven’t bought anything yet. But the test ride gave me alot of reason to pause. If the the foil is even close to as aero as an s2, I’m going to be all over it.
What’s the foil?
Scott foil
.
Which version of the Foil did you ride? and according to the Scott website , they listed as aero frames
You can promise? Based on what?
Cervelo made a bike that LOOKS aero, but does anyone really know how aero it is? Did they do enough to surpass the Archon “C” bikes (another bike I haven’t seen independently tested, but certainly LOOKS aero, in fact a bike the S5 seems to have taken some inspiration from)?

So let me just double check your analysis here. Cervelo has now made somewhere around 10bikes that have all been verified as one of the fastest if not the fastest bike of that generation of bikes. And furthermore ever itteration of bike has been shown to go faster in independent tests. But now somehow the s5 just “looks” aero but may not be? Thats a joke right?

Haha! Good one.

Nevermind found the “aero” one
Errr maybe not, is the only internal cable one of the litespeed really the di2 model?
The only way that comment makes any sense is if he’s referring to the Litespeed Archon. Even if that is true, the S5 looks absolutely nothing like it. I’m also pretttyyy sure that I would never choose a bike over an S5 if I was remotely interested in performance and was spending my own money.
Has the data ever been published on the Venge as was promised?
heres what I think hes talking about,
http://www.litespeed.com/bike.asp?content=C1R-2012 but the only version that has internal cables is the Di2. There’s no way an external cable bike is faster, thats like 2004?? technology.
Why doesn’t Cervelo hide the front brake?
…or integrate it into the fork, like the Ridley Noah FB?

They’ve determined it doesn’t make that much difference, compared to the hassle it requires, which has been mentioned multiple times. I’m more surprised they haven’t designed an aero front brake for their bikes though.
Why would Litespeed go to trouble of making a nice aero frame and then run the cables outside. I wonder if it would be any more aero than my Kestrel Talon from 2004.
Let me get this straight, you’re saying since a completely different bike is aero, that automatically guarantees the S5 as the MOST aero road bike in existence?
You’re kidding right?
I should point out I’m not saying the S5 isn’t aero, I’m saying I don’t know for a fact it is aero. I am a Cervelo road bike owner, I like their bikes, I just don’t take the word of their marketing department as gospel.
I think only the C1R is externally routed, the other frames are all internal. I think.
I read somewhere they did that for their “racing” frame cause roadies wanted easier maintenance.
It’s not that you’d be trusting the marketing department of Cervelo, you’d be trusting that the engineers - based on previous evidence of excellent aerodynamic design and execution - did their job with this bike just as well as with past bikes.

Sure but my point is that Cervelo has been independently tested a ton, everyone of their bikes for the last 10 years has always been faster than the previous iteration. I would say that is a pretty good track record. Enough so that I wouldn’t doubt their next iteration of bike would be faster than the last.
