Ok, maybe I’m just missing where it says what will be at the aide stations in IMKY?? You know, GU, Hammer Gel, Gatorade, Powerade…etc?? Does anyone know? I’d like to start training with whatever they’re serving.

I get the feeling that at IMKY they are going to give everyone some really slippery gel to put in between their legs to help prevent chaffing.
Huh? I want to get it but I just don’t.
Gatorade Endurance is NASports drink of choice. At IMAZ it was orange on the bike, lemon/lime on the run. Not sure if it will be that way in KY, but they use one for the bike, the other for the run.
Bars and Gels are PowerBar brand - gels are the 4x sodium (I believe), though I’m not sure of flavors.
Aid stations also have H20, orange, banana (bike) and H20, orange/banana/grapes, cookies, cola and chicken broth (run).
Sadly they don’t use Hammer products.

Thanks Guys,
At least now I know what to start getting used to. I guess it helps that I’m already a fan of the green apple powerbar gel. I’ll admit I’m alittle surprised they don’t offer Hammer either. It seems alot of smaller races opt for it. I figured they were following suit of the bigger races.
I’ll save the fried chicken, and sweet tea for my post workout and race food. LOL!
The Old Kentucky Home Tour used to serve bourbon. Seriously.

Pickled eggs–no, not a Kentucky thing, I never heard of them until I moved to Michigan (really popular in the upper peninsula).
Boiled peanuts, more of a Georgia thing, not so common in Ky, at least not when I was growning up.
Sweet tea is a pretty recent arrival, too. When I was growing up there iced tea was very common but sweet tea wasn’t, especially as far north as Louisville.
Mint Juelips, however…
And don’t forget the biscuits to go with the KFC!
Squirrel brain is a specialty of Louisville. Fried I believe is the preferred method of preparation.
