Whatever happened to... (3)

I searched high and low and couldn’t find anything.

Whatever happened to that Canadian guy who tested positive, served his two year ban, then lived in a cabin for the winter training in the snow before his comeback. Inside tri did an ongoing piece durring his winter training but I cant find it.

What was that dudes name, and what happened to him?

IIRC, it was Kelly Guest, and he is back racing. He was at Muskoka last year at least.

yeah, it was Kelly, and yeah, he is back racing…but he was exonerated, he didn’t just fail a test and serve his time. Very, very different.

Got a link or something? What happened?

Kelly “failed” the very, very faulty nandralone test. He was like 0.0000001% over the limit. This was before they knew the nandralone test was highly susceptible to a rather common phenomenon called unstable urine, where proteins in your urine breakdown and this trips the nandralone test. I believe the test has since been revised to account for this. Kelly is a great guy. He has a great youth-coaching program in Victoria that he runs (some of his kids will be FAST) that seems to be his real passion now. But he is also training and doing some racing.

It’s what Jordan said, he tested positive for a small amount of Nandrolone (sp), but when the limit was found to be way too low and changed, he was under the limit, and reinstated.
