I have a Haro CX bike that I never use anymore and I’m thinking of selling it but I have no clue what to sell it for.
Bought it used in 2002, it is a red Haro CXR(?) cyclocross bike with a polished Kenesis aluminum fork. I have no idea as to when it was made, but I talked to Haro and they guessed 1999 or therabouts.
Avid Shorty 6 brakes
8-speed: 105 brifters, 105 front der, Ultegra rear der, Ultegra BB, 105 Cranks, Ultegra cassette and chain
Ritchey headset (1")
Front wheel: Cane Creek Arrowhead with Conti GP2000 tire
Rear wheel: Mavic 591 with 105 hub with Conti GP2000 tire
Ritchey seatpost / Sella Italia XO saddle
Couple of small scratches on the frame, but no big dents or anything. I’ve never crashed it. I used it as a road bike. All decals were removed by me by hand except for the two Haro decals.
I’m fastidious about my bikes, so everything has been kept inside and immaculately clean.
It is a great bike for the trainer as it is stiff as hell, but I already have six bikes in the house. Without a garage, things get kinda tight with bikes everywhere. (I’d rather keep it and ditch my wife’s comfort-cruiser, but she really likes the tank.)
No way. I’d rather have an idea as to the value of the bike and sell it locally rather than via Ebay. I am relishing the idea of fitting the person to the bike and sending them off happy. Takes me back to my days working in the bike shop.
In that case, you can still use ebay as a research tool. Find a bike that is similar and see what it is going for. Also, figure what a bike like yours would be new, and that add some sort of depresiation like 50% or 75% depending on its condition.
Wildass guess would be $250-400. Haro is a pretty good name. Cross bikes usually don’t go for a lot. The 8 speed is getting old. You can buy a new rig for under a grand with comparable specs. Like another bidder said it isworth what someone will pay you for it.
