What We Have Noticed: blueseventy, HED, Lynskey

Seriously the third brake lever? How long has that been out now 2 years? How useless is it? Very. Its a neat idea, but ask anyone who has had it installed and then ask how it brakes… maybe it slows them down…barely…Worthless.

Now the new trisuits with built-in compression…that I like.

The Third Brake has been out for a while, but you don’t see the emails I get with questions on bike setup.
I have explained this Third Brake as a solution to a few now and each sounded very surprised.

i don’t see the reason for your rant. The third brake lever was never meant to stop the bike completely. It’s not even meant to allow you to corner in the aero position. It was designed to scrub speed going around round-abouts.

They are helpful in team time trials and also for emergency breaking while training. While it will not stop you it quickly it can give you enough time to react and prevent running into a dog or a car.

I have the Hed setup and the lever on the areo bar actually stops the bike better then the one on the base bar. I love having it and use it every time I ride. For real stopping I use more front brake anyways.

I love the “what we have noticed” features. My $.02.

I also loved you slapping Coggan the other day ;^)

I really enjoy the column too, but was wondering about the quoted price of the Lynskey T230 frame. It appears on the site to be $1495, not the sensually enticing $995 mentioned.

Here’s the link:

The press release surely said 995.-, it just appears that they did not update the site yet. I actually sent them an email to alert them of that discrepancy but I guess they were already gone for the weekend

Yeah I noticed the pricing discrepancy too. I was perusing the lynksey site when thay had that big sale. Love the dropout detail on that frame.

I also have the third brake lever on my bike and love it when riding thru central park on the weekends.

Dont get me wrong, I do love the column as well.

Just got an email that the site is updated and it seems like that indeed.

I disagree about team time trials… the 3rd brake lever is pretty bad for TTTs. Having that 3rd brake lever right in your hands in aero position makes you “trigger happy”, and makes you a whole lot less smooth compared to if you had to move to brake. It can seriously throw off the person behind you, since you brake pretty much without warning. (I speak from experience… I have a 3rd brake lever myself… it’s good for ITTs when you want to make mild turns at speed and need to scrub some speed, but it throws your teammates off in a TTT).

Yes, telling me to “chill” was an oh-so-original way for Herbert to cover up for his lack of netiquette.

Oh…lighten up, Francis…

I’m already too light.

That’s just because you don’t spend enough time on the Australian sheep vibrating platform
.

Was I replying to you?

Herbert’s been showing some guts lately, especially in the Yvonne Van Vlerken thread and I think it’s good for the forum. You’ve been here long enough to know that whatever his reasons for replying to you, that it was a mistake and he doesn’t need a lesson in “netiquette.” You came off sounding like one of those 33 year-old managers at Chili’s who lives in his grandmother’s basement complaining that there isn’t enough Segway parking at the Trekkie convention. No reason why this can’t be fun ;^P

OMG, that’s a winner. But in point of fact, I don’t know if the good doctor will follow, as the Segway was not yet invented when he was 33.

[EDIT: just read the Scott/tour testing thread. If your reference was to that thread, I must agree with the doctor. When Herbert posed the question to AC, I thought, “why is he asking him?” So, much as I enjoyed your swipe, AC was correct.

Anybody agree with me, that AC is to ST, what Simon is to American Idol?]
