What was the Republican strategy in Iraq?

With all the discussions about changing the “stay the course” strategy, and possible alternatives, I can’t remember what the actual Republican strategy really was. This may have been beaten to death a few times over, but was there ever a strategy? If so, what was it (or, what is it because I suppose we’re still trying to follow it until it changes)?

And by the way, winning wasn’t a strategy. Also, making the Iraqi’s responsible for our mess “cause it’s their own country” wasn’t a strategy either.

I don’t think they really planned for much after the victory parades and ticker tape processions in Baghdad.

You are the new Secretary of Defense. What is your strategy? Secretary Yahey steps up the the podium <tap tap tap is this thing on?> “Those other guys did it all wrong, they should have been doing this _______________.”

“Going forward, this is how we will handle Iraq ___________________.”

Go.

I don’t have the answers, I just what to know what the Republican strategy has been until now. To wear down the enemy?

This one is too easy.

“those other guys did it all wrong, they should have been doing this. Going after the people who attacked us on 9/11 and leaving Iraq the hell alone.”

Your “going forward” question is sort of like asking a the new coach of a 1-11 team how he is going to win the Superbowl next season.

Going forward there are no good solutions or easy answers because the guys who got us into this mess f**ked that country up so badly we will never be able to put it back together again. We cannot undo what has been done, we need to find a way to make our exit as painless aspossible for both this country and for Iraq. We need to find a way to help Iraq from outside its borders because it is becoming clearer every day that our presence there is generating violence rather than quelling it.

The “stratergy” was to show Hussein the meaning of American justice and to capture him dead or alive. After that phase, we go on to win the hearts and minds of the people so Democracy will reign.

Finally, the people of Iran and Syria will be caught up in the feeling of freedom, and Democracy will sweep the region.

Not sure why people had doubts about that stratergy.

Finally, in the “be careful what you call others because it can come back to bite you” category, it will be interesting to see how Bush handles his new Secretary of Defense. He either ignores his advice and continues in his stratergy of winning, or he listens to him, admits we are not winning so changes direction and risk being labelled the ultimate flip flop President.

I hope he listens and just accepts that mistakes were made, the administration was wrong and that we should have listened to the weapons inspectors and all those countries and people in this country that said we were making a mistake.

I wrote a long verbose response the first time, but some how f’d it up and it posted nothing.

I am a giant liberal though, so just imagine what I might have written.

That is impressive. I’m glad you were not in charge of WWII.

Giant liberals scare me. Most are kind of scrawny like Allan Colmes.

Did I tell you I met Rosie O’Donnell once?

I know. I’m still lacking a great comeback for that…

Don’t bother too much about those two diehards. It’s like Yahey intitiates it by going to the piss pan and flips out his weener and sure enough MattinSF appears right beside him and flips his out. Instead of taking a leak they reach over to each others’ peckers and start massaging. Now they’re gratyfying each other right here on the LR! …eeew!

It’s a wonder (well not really a wonder but…) they aren’t asking what the new Congress is doing to implement the wonderful strategy they are so enamoured with. There’s only one effective strategy and them two ostrich-sheep crossbreeds aren’t up for it for sure. Anyway they’re too pre-occupied right now.

Hey last tri isn’t the one crticising. He’s not positioning himself as some smart ass so doesn’t imply that he has any answers. As such your response is pretty much irrellevant.

Lucky you! … Did she proposition your hunky triathlete body? … besides being a liberal lefty she’s actually a closet hetero. … if you had helped her get to her true self and gave her some satisfucktion … who knows? … she may stop her ridiculous whining ways and go straight.
