What videos are you watching indoors?

Just wondering what videos people are watching while on their trainers.

If you like war movies, I highly suggest the Band of Brothers DVD collection. I think there is something like 8 DVDs with 2 episodes per DVD. Each one lasts about 50 minutes. Perfect for that quick 50 minute spin.

I bought my wife a bunch of those “Friends” season collections. She likes cycling to those.

Of course there is always Lance Tour de France stuff.

“If you like war movies”

They have made a decent realistic war movie since “Bridge Over the River Kwi”.

I watch TDF and IM vids when on the trainer.

“They have made a decent realistic war movie since “Bridge Over the River Kwi”.”

Whooops. My typo. Meant to say “haven’t”. But that’s not totally true. “The Longest Day”, “Midway”, “Saving Private Ryan” were quite decent. I only seem to like WWII movies. Still think “Bridge on the River Kwii” was the best. Nobody can act as well as Alec Guiness?

Prefer bike/tri videos for the trainer.

“But that’s not totally true.”

Let me also add “The English Patient” to the list.

Some of my favorites to ride to:

Prefontaine, Without Limits, American Flyers, Rocky IV, Breaking Away, Remember the Titans, and Gladiator. Plus I have every IM Hawaii tape from 1994 to present.

Tour de France 1989, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
Paris-Roubaix
IMH 1989, late 1990s to current
IMNZ 2001, 2002, 2003
IM California 2000

Sometimes I’ll watch the French TV channel or MTV.

TDF 2003 - Stage to Luz Ardiden.

I like to tip over my trainer when Lance goes down.

Timely post. I traded the PC hooked up to the Computrainer for a TV/DVD combo unit.

I just bought a couple of videos this weekend (bought them for me; handed them off to the wife so she’ll wrap them and give them to me next week).

I’m partial to concert videos, so I got Dave Matthews in Central Park; Pearl Jam; and Sheryl Crow.

I also ordered the Prefontaine documentary on Amazon. I’ve asked Santa for TDF 1999 and 2002.

This past week, I had nothing of my own to watch, so I watched Finding Nemo. Twice. Gosh, what a cute little guy.

In addition to all the TdF, Giro and Vuelta tapes combined with the CT on the computer monitor, there is a very good documentary “Endurance” about Haile Gebrselassie. If that fails then it’s the Rap channel on Music Choice to get a mindless beat going, or when all else fails - porno. I have convinced myself it raises testosterone levels and there is no problem with plot diverting your brain (from the task at hand so to speak).

Can someone link me to a place where I can buy Tour DVD’s (or vhs, whichever is available). Past IMs or ITU World Cups are also appreciated.

Thanks

I’m watching:

1996 World Velodrome Championships (Year of the Superman)

2002 World Time Trial Championships

2003 Tour de France Prologue, TTT, and ITT’s

2003 Vuelta TTT

ANY sporting event, especially when it’s exciting and going into overtime. Makes you stay on that darn bike even longer.

Friends of my in Colorado used to cover their living room carpet with plastic on Monday nights and invite friends with trainers and bikes over for Monday Night Football. At the beginning of the season they would all ride one quarter, increasing weekly, up to riding the entire game at then of the season (3+ hours). They may have even riden the entire length of the Superbowl game but personally I couldn’t ruin a sacred event like that with so much noise and the distraction of other people talking.
