What to eat/drink during f1 style duathlon?

it’s a 2mile run/10 mile bike/1 mile run/10 mile bike/2mile run.

i’ll assume it will take me about 1:35. is water and gatorade enough?

More than enough.

Water and gatorade will be plenty.

Nothing required for the short stuff. Have a bottle of water on the bike.

Not enough for me.

I would take 1 gel on each bike ride depending on how I felt.

They “might” be right about Gatorade being enough but I would still take a complex carb gel before the start to help keep the glucose levels…well…level. The Gatorade will keep the simples peaking but if you don’t take the gel to start you could go below before your second run and then the Gatorade won’t be quite as effective.

Personally, I would take a Carb Boom or a Hammer Gel 15 min before the race then again as right before I got off the bike for the second run.

Some just want to finish…others finish well.

what I like to do is to squeeze 1 gel into each water bottle full of water, shake it up of course. then you don’t have to think about taking gels, etc., and you are good to go. Especially during a sprint race, the less you have to think about the better.
