Go to a local bike shop. Beg/borrow/plead for a pair of damaged rims. Put them on the frame as normal. Install seatpost, saddle, and handlebars.
Hang incorrectly ( ala newbie) from a trunk mounted bike rack (borrow one if you need), so the bike drags against the ground. Drive around town as if your going riding. Have spouse, coworker, partner in crime take pictures of the response.
I crashed my carbon frame last season: it had some cracks on it and the rear derailleur was in a weird angle. Since the latter was integrated in the frame I was told it couldn’t be fixed.
Now, I don’t fancy the frame that much (bad memories from the crash I guess) - at least I don’t want to hang it on the wall! So I had the same problem: what to do with a broken (expensive) frame which look ok (besides the derailleur that is). A friend of mine came up with the idea to put it on the trainer. It works great! Well, of course I can only change the front gear (53 vs 39), yet, I have this trainer with magnetic adjustments (5 gears) and for my in-door training it really is ok (I do intervals and recovery rides only).
Maybe this is impossible for you to try, I mean your frame is really
broken, cut- broken. Maybe if you had it welded you could have a try.
I have a frame like this, cut off alll tubes frOm seattube except for the seat stays. Put in a cheap seatpost and saddle and you have a very functional work station or whatever chair.
Most shops I’ve been to (and the four I’ve worked in) require the warrantied frame to show the reps and/or send back to the factory. We never let people keep them …
Finished the build late last night so I only have about 25 minutes of riding so far. The ride is surprisingly different that the old bike. The front end feels a lot stiffer; tracking in turns is much more stable. The ride is less harsh, bike almost feels like it’s floating over the ground - the road is there, but I had to think about it. BB feels about the same - no flex that I can detect
Fit isn’t dialed in perfectly (mainly because the seatpost was slipping - a problem with the last one too), and the headset keeps working loose, so i’m going to have to play around with that, but so far i’m pretty happy.
great to hear, used to have one - had one of their 09 al streetracer model which i liked but never really got used to the roadie position and im back on a tri bike after only 1 season on a roady. enjoy!
