I’m going to bed earlier and earlier each night and having better workouts because of it. I’m trying to hit the sack by 9:30 and get up at 5:00. Anybody else doing this and do you have any tricks to fall asleep?
In bed by 9pm sometimes earlier, up at 5am on workdays
I don’t drink anything with Caffein in it after 2pm
Dark room
White noise sometimes
Don’t eat after 6:30pm
.
Anytime between 11 and 1depemdent if I work or am studying. I usually get up between 6-7. Ironically I am on a better more routine sleep schedule now that I am back in school then before.
Yeah I have the bedtime of an infant. Wrapping it up by 9, hopefully asleep by 10. A book and if needed 3mg of sublingual melatonin usually drops me off.
cheers

Asleep by 10:15, awake by 5:05. not optimal but the only way I can exercise with a demanding job, terrible DC commute, and a family. I try to carve out 1.25 hours during the week. Weekend workouts range between 1.5 - 3.0 hours.
My coach is in bed by 9 and up at 4 or 345. I’m in bed by 12 or 1 and up at 8 or 9. I’ve tried going to bed that early and failed because I couldn’t fall asleep either. I usually play angry birds or words with friends on my phone before I fall asleep. Works fine for falling asleep in the wee morning hours.
My body doesn’t function well before noon in training, regardless of when I go to bed.
Try to be asleep by 10pm. Always up at 4:30am. I’ve kept that routine for quite a while now and usually wake up on my own about 5 minutes before my alarm goes off.
in bed with a book by 9pm. A good book will always put me to sleep…I get in a few pages, then I’m out like a light. I guess it helps my mind shut off, sleep like a baby.
Up by 4:15am. Only trick I have here is good coffee… 2 cups!
on hard training days ( speedwork or long runs ) I go to bed at 8:30, on normal days I go to bed at 9. Up at 5.
In bed between 9 and 9:30 and up at 5:00 (on weekdays).
Tues and thurs night go to bed at 8:00, same as my three year old, up at 4 am. 60 computrainer miles or as many as 20 treadmill miles later and I am ready to get him ready for his play day and my work day. Those are the days my wife works (she does masters swim those mornings). The other 3 days I stay up “late” with my wife until 9 and get up at 5:15 and hit a masters group for a 90 minute swim session. Weekends pretty much don’t do much unless in a 6 week IM build. We often have babysitter Saturday, have a nice meal, hang with friends (or both) and stay up until midnight. When the week starts back up it is plenty easy to sleep. My wife is also a triathlete and we’ve done this sort of thing for years. We used to do our training together but now have to alternate with our little man. He even started riding without training wheels 2 days after turning 3.
My other workouts come at lunchtime and involve 1 interval bike, 1 interval run and 2 weight days. The other day I’ll either work through lunch or flex in a recovery spin. I am a self employed physical therapist with a work “playground”. Home with the family by 5 most days.
Go to sleep at 11, up at 5:45 or so.
In bed somewhere between 11 and midnight, up at 5:15, no naps. At this point in the semester, though, it’s been more like 1 or 2 as a bedtime. I wish I knew what it was like to be well-rested, but I think that’s going to have to wait until after I finish school. Then again, that probably won’t happen either.
Same as you…asleep by 9:30 and up at 5. As far as tricks for getting to sleep early, I take Melotonin. I get the deepest sleeps and wake up feeling great. Never groggy.
In bed by 9 up at 4am
.
Now that the time has changed, I’m getting to bed earlier. By 21:00 it feels like it has been night for so long I can’t help but start the evening routine earlier. So my new goal is minimal TIVO at night and straight to bed w the wife by 21:15, asleep by 22:00-ish.
bed by 8:30, up at 4:30… Beer and wine on weekends make it a bit different though
I routinely get into bed around 8:30 then read. Lights out no later than 9:30 usually earlier. I wake up at 5:00 on Tues, Wed, Thurs. 6:00 on Mon and Fri.
up at 6, in bed by midnight during the week (train after work - just do 10mins of bodyweight exercises in the morning). usually up by 8am saturday, 7am sunday, in bed by midnight or 1am.
i’ve been known to sack out by 9pm the evening after a race of 3hrs or more, but i can seldom get to sleep before 11pm.
cheers!

Bed usually by 10, depending on if the baby has stuck to her schedule or not. Up in time to get my workout done and be home by 7:30 (agreed on time with the wife). Sometimes that means up at 5 and somedays I sleep until 6:15.
