I do not envy the committee.
I think they sealed their fate last week putting TCU at third. It’ll be hard to move them from 3 to 5 with a decent win this week. It’s almost impossible to move FSU out of the top 4 while undefeated. Then there is OSU. Dominate performance and a team no one wants to play right now. They may be looking in from the outside though.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see OSU jump in at 4 and both TCU and Baylor end up on the outside looking in.
59-0 against a pretty good Wisconsin team, with their third string QB, makes a pretty compelling case.
If the committee had stones they would drop FSU out of the top 4.

THIS!
Say, ‘fuck it, we’re just switching to 8 teams right now.’
.
Tin foil hat time.
What is the possibility that Wisconsin was promised a lot of money to throw the game? The only chance for the big ten to have a representative in the playoff was for osu to win big. that is what happens. Coincidence or conspiracy?
The bottom line is that a 4 team playoff is better than that madness we had prior but it’s still clearly not enough. 5 or 6 really good teams for 4 spots. 8 would be perfect.
It’ll boil down to whether they truly take the four best teams or not. If they want to just make the right decision, they need to just get together tomorrow and conference call the Las Vegas Sportsbook and ask who would be favored on a neutral field…chances are the top 4 would be. That would ultimately mean FSU would be out. FSU would be a dog to Bama, Oregon, OSU, TCU, Baylor and probably even Michigan State. They were 4 pt favorites tonight to a team (Ga Tech) on a neutral field that got beat by Duke at home.
Going to be real hard to leave FSU Out though. I’m guessing TCU draws the short straw.

Nutjob conspiracy. To lose 59-0 (first shutout in Big 10 Championship history) the entire team would have had to have been in on it. I watched a good portion of the game, and they didn’t throw it. OSU just played much better.

I’ve run some calculations. Nate Silver checked my math. I conclude there is a 0% possibility.

As a rabid CFB fan I’d like to see 8 this year, but not so sure the playoff would be best with 8 every year. Bama, Oregon and FSU are in that mix, but I believe OSU, TCU and Baylor have really solid teams as well. 7 and 8 no matter who would be cannon fodder in my opinion, but I’d much rather see 2 ‘whatever’ teams get in and see what I think are 6 legit teams duke it out. Next year maybe there are only 3 in my minds eye and then a 4 team works great. Just not sure there is ever a perfect answer every year…so until 2026…
If they pass OSU up it would be a crime. That game was something to behold. Third string QB? Jesus you could have knocked be over with a feather.
Also how do you put TCU ahead of Baylor based on head to head? ESPN just called them co champs, they aren’t according to the conferences own rules.

Actually the conference commissioner named them co-champs. They already decidided that baylor and tcu are sharing the title regardless of what the rules say.

I’m very interested to see if the Big 12 keeps a round robin schedule in place after this year. Simply cannot imagine OSU being left out, but who knows. Tonight might be one of the most biggest nights in blogosphere volume innerwebz history.

And what if Missouri was promised money to lose to BAMA or Arizona to Oregon? Same scenario. Wisconsin just sucks, you slow down Gordon early and they are done.
I agree. I look at the big 12 and say, you guys want to be a power 5, then play a championship game and declare a winner. Then your in. None of this crap where our top two teams don’t play but we make the case for both.
Plain and simple the little 10(14) is a horrible conference, after osu and the badgers most of their teams would have a hard time with the teams in the FCS playoffs.
If the Big12(10) wants to be a power conference they need to have a Championship game.
Last I saw, most ESPN analysts were saying Big10 ended up being the second best conferance this year behind SEC. Maybe you put the Big12 tied or ahead of the Big10. While not all championship contenders I think Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Nebraska represented the conference well.

I think you are pulling that one out of your behind.

I watch ESPN every day like a junkie and have sports talk radio shows on non-stop in the car and I have not heard anything along those lines once this year. Before the game last night the Big 10 had a record of 6-11 vs the Power 5. Um, I might put them at 4th best at most behind ACC/Pac12/SEC. Maybe 4th probably an even tie with the Big 12.
Forget ‘most’ analysts. Can you name one and show me a link to it b/c I’m dying to see this…are you an OSU fan still high from the game last night?
I don’t think that’s how rules work. He must be quite the spineless bastard because they were showing what the rules said and they even highlighted that the head to head was the tie breaker. I guess everyone gets a trophy.
