What the heck is wrong with my polar HRM?

I woke up today and found the screen blank on the watch part of my polar s210 hrm. I figured that the battery must be dead but then I noticed that all the buttons make the regular noises and that I can even light up the backlight so it definitely has got power. Has anyone experienced this before/what does it mean. I only bought the thing 3 months ago. Is this the symptom of the battery being almost dead or is something wrong with the screen?

well the guys I bought it from passed me to Polar and Polar put me on hold for 30 minutes but they said to try a hard reset (which didn’t do anything) and now they say I need to mail it back to them for repairs. Pretty sucky thing right in the middle of my 3 biggest training weeks of the year.

If approached right maybe losing the HRM for a few weeks can be enlightening. But, I have to agree losing any of my toys would not be cool!

No, not fun at all. A few weeks ago, I bought a new bike, took one ride on it, then two days later (with a run on the intervening day), I couldn’t find my Polar. So for 3 weeks I have been searching and hoping it will turn up, with no luck. Enlightening without it? I guess – but it also took a little of the fun away from the new bike…

Now I’ll do the one thing that will make the old Polar turn up – buy a new one! Of course, I’ll use the opportunity to upgrade…just don’t tell my wife!

Maybe it is your heart.

not only am I dead. I stopped time!

just remember to use your powers for good, not evil

This same thing happened to mine. I took a small screwdriver and took out the battery and them put it back in. That took care of it. Overall I think my Polar HRM sucks. Unless it is above 90 degrees and I instantly start sweating I have to add cream to the transmitter to get it to read a heart rate. I just bought it in Jan. and it has done it ever since. I had a $20 Sports Instuments that I bought on eBay that has worked just fine for 3 years here in WI even in winter. I hadn’t even used cream until I got the Polar.

cool! So did you replace the battery or just take it out and put it back in?

I just took it out and put it back in.
