What supplements do you take? (2)

Just curious how many people here use supplements (not necessarily talking about a daily vitamin or replacing a natural deficiency of something).

What do you take and why?

I don’t take anything, but am always curious about the people chugging their glowing neon pre workout in the gym locker room at 5 am.

Nothing now, Vitamin D in the winter. If I didn’t hate having blood drawn so much I’d take steps toward getting some testosterone.

I take ibuprofen every once in awhile when my legs ache.

I take a women’s specific multivitamin (increased folic acid and biotin) and calcium with vitamin D3 (I’ve always had lower Ca levels). All of my bloodwork for those relevant markers are in range, so I don’t mess with a good thing.

I also take estrogen and progesterone, because my body stopped making them on their own entirely too early in my life.

That’s it.

I take Vitamin D3 and K2.

The K2 takes calcium away from soft tissue (gums, arteries) and puts it where it belongs, bones and teeth. Vitamin D3 because not enough strong sun in Canada.

NAD+ and NMN. Regulates my sleep (life long battle with insomnia). I wake up immediately refreshed. Has increased my endurance during workouts. Nice side effect - I did not have many wrinkles on my face, but, what few I had are now gone.

In the early 2000’s, I took glucosamine and chondroitin. Supposed to help your joints, but I didn’t notice any effect. Stopped using these at least ten years ago. I do as much or more activity as I was doing then and I feel fine.

The money I’ve saved goes towards better coffee these days.

Does beer count?

Bourbon and grilled red meat. And I feel fantastic.

I actually feel a lot better now that I am back to training. Dropped some weight, gives me more energy.

Just a one a day and low dose aspirin.

BleP!!! We need a ruling!

The time I ran yesterday only qualifies me for Beginner Tri they’d never let me in the other side here. Being old and fat will do that to you (and I was never very fast to begin with).

There’s always CrossFit for you.

I’m not really a joiner kind of guy. I was going to join the local tri club, then I remembered that I don’t like people very much.

That is one study referenced but numerous others out there.

Just curious.
Do you have CKD or did you just extrapolate the effect for n=1 prevention of personal CACS

Vitamin D once or twice a week (because some days I get stuck in the office all day…thankfully not too often), Magnesium/Potassium few times a week because I do a fair bit of intermittent fasting and hedge my bets a bit with these, good amount of CBD (a few different delivery mechanisms) most days for recovery after I’m getting all swole and shit.

Magnesium (I had a deficiency and it helps me with sleep, muscle cramps and intestinal regularity and PMS)
Iron (stops me from craving cheeseburgers 24/7)
B12 my doc suggested it
D - everyone needs sunshine in their life.

I take Vitamin D, because I live in Seattle and the sun don’t shine for months at a time. When I last tested for D, they told me dead people had more D in their system than I did. I take Omega-3 because I don’t eat foods that are naturally high the nutrient. I also take an herbal supplement (HANAH Ashwagandha) for overall health. I have a five year old who brings home germs and I find it helps with my immune system. From time to time I take CBD for sleep and recovery benefits.
