Currently on 23mm prorace 3. Just wondering if there is any advantage to running something more narrow on this shape wheel.
given that narrower tires have been said to have more RR that
offsets the aero benefit, i’d say that i am happy with the Conti
Attack/Force combo on my QR Caliente. the stock tires were
Conti Ultra Race 19s and they were:
- harsh at 100 psi(where i wanted for my weight)
- mushy at 90-95, i.e. draggy, sluggish
- got pinch flats
so, the Attack(front) is 22mm so it’s a teeny, tiny bit narrower
than a 23 pro3race, but the biggest benefit is the 24mm rear
which feels like a 25(more comfortable) but at a good width.
these work well with the wheel cutout on my Caliente; can’t
say for other bikes. the black chili compound is grippy and
so far is wearing well. be aware that a lot of retailers still have
the old compound which is grey - less traction, faster wear, etc.
