What PSI to run in Conti tubular

I hear there are studies for and against a high PSI (also for and against a low 130 PSI).
What would you run in a Conti tubular for IM KY

Don’t know if it’s the right thing to do but I have been running 125 psi in my Conti comps. I weigh around 160 lbs. Seems to ride nice, and thats important for me in an IM. This is what I will be running at IMMoo this year.

depends - what conti tubular? sprinter? competition? How much do you weigh? What wheel (front or rear). I’d say 9 bar on the button as the roads are very nice/smooth.

Conti Competition. I am 126 lbs. I have the same Conti’s on front and back.
Hed tri spoke front and a disc on back.
Also, what would be the ideal wheel set up for a course like KY (tri spoke, 404, disc etc…)

126 lbs? Wow. 9 barr (135 psi at sea level) would be MAX then. I’d probably run about 125-30 rear, 125 front since you are so light. You won’t loose any significant time with that pressure at all and the ride will be MUCH nicer, esp over an IM distance. I’d run a disc rear and 404 front for IM Lou personally. In fact, I’m running a Hed90 front and disc rear myself at IM Lou, so pretty close

I am 140lbs and ran my conti competitions at 125. They felt great. By the way, there is no science behind why I ran them at 125…but it felt good on my training ride w/ them.

“Feel” is a good way to judge it. The tire must be inflated to roll, yet less than max to absorb the impact of the road and all the imperfections that make up the surface. If you over inflate…you bounce over those imperfections…and that I am told slows you down. I am 150 lbs. and I ride my tubular sprinter’s at 125 lbs.

When I stopped taking every johnny come lately “go fast” supplement on race day…I also went from the riduculously hard 140 lbs I was doing to the current. Been doing better ever since. The correlation??? Train hard…race smart…trust yourself. Oh yeah…and don’t do anything F-ing stupid thinking you’re going to go faster!

Rode a race yesterday with 120 in a Conti Comp 22 in the rear and 130 in a Conti Comp 19 in the front

I’m 145 lbs
.

Raced a sprint yesterday with 140 psi in my conti 19 on my Zipp 404 in the front and 120 psi in my Michelin Pro 23 on my disc wheel in the back. I weigh 135 and averaged 22.2 mph.

BTW - Good luck trying to get any ST psi consensus. I think you have to be in the ultra elite ST inner circle before this info will be divulged to you.
