What odometer do you like?

Hey there, I need a odometer for my new roadbike. Something simple, no gps or anything.
I have a PM that I will sometime use on this bike. I have a Specialized Elite on another
bike, which seems pretty good, but I think they are obsolete now.

Thanks for your feedback!

Cateye Strada Wireless. Reasonable priced. Very small, but easy to read and operate. Reliable and super easy to mount (stem or bar).

can’t beat it, I have one on both my tri and road bikes.

cool, I’ll look into it. thx.

X2 on the Cateye wireless. Have an older version on one of my road bikes, and the current Strada model on my TT/Tri bike (they’re cheap enough I figured it was nice to have one for each instead of swapping). They’ve been durable, no fuss, and no extra paraphernalia to fail.

Garmin 305

wait, thats got GPS

but, I maintain it is simpler than any other solution

  1. Nothing to attach to your bike
  2. no wires to run anywhere
  3. no sensors that get out of alignment

=)

funny you say that, I run both the 305 and the cateye on my bikes. between the two I can see speed, avg speed, distance, hr, avg hr and time all at once. kinda cool.

also, the Cateye is a nice backup in case I start a ride with less than a full charge on the Garmin. the 305 died on my last weekend halfway into my long ride, so it was nice to have something else capturing the data.

Cateye V2C.

Wireless with cadence. Rear wheel for trainer use too.

I had a cateye astrale that worked great, but it wasn’t wrieless
.

Cateye Strada on all of my bikes. Best one for the money and the double mount allows you to mount to stem or bars. Stem mount for a tri bike is a must.

Cateye Micro Wireless
.

I use a sigmasport wireless with wireless cadence. It mounts w/o tools and can be rotated to mount stem, basebar, or aerobars. About $50 on ebay.

+3 on Cateye Strada Wireless. Easy to setup and use. For tri bikes, it can be set up on the stem itself.

Is anyone using the Cateye Strada Double Wireless (cc-rd400dw)? Like this:

How is the “wireless rear wheel mounted speed and cadence sensor”? Not too big and bulky? Reliable data transmission?

Thanks for the comments.

If you want something basic, cheap and reliable, you should check out the “Filzer” Cyclocomputer.

It costs around $20 in Canada at Mountain Equipment Co-Op. I like the Multi-display. Best of all… it has Cadence too! I have this on 2 road-bikes and love it.

On occasion I will use Google maps, but normally I just ride.

I did buy a Cateye Strada Wireless based upon the recommendations that I received here.

It took me about five minutes to put on, set up. It’s small, simple, inexpensive, exactly what I wanted.
