The New Wheels
We had to keep pushing the trend for aerodynamic wheel usage in the peloton so we’re introducing a collaborative wheel project this week. Steve Hed has had a deep section wheel for sale for 15 years but only recently have pro teams accepted it as a way to save energy and increase speed. Our wheel is based on the Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon climbing wheel the team has been racing for the past 2.5 years but it incorporates a carbon skin that gives the rim more hoop strength and a better aerodynamic profile. We’re still working on the final weight and have even considered adding weight to play on the flywheel effect. This wheel is destined to be the team’s workhorse wheel which means it will be used when the pace is high and the terrain is flat. Some riders actually like a heavier wheel when the pace is high because the spinning forces makes the bike more stable and also helps maintain a more consistent speed.

Those wheels are sick, whats the weight? Do they compare (weight wise) with Lightweight wheels?
