Are these a production set of HED wheels or is this something special they are making for Trek?
those are made for bontrager by HED.
Actually they are made in combination by Bontrager & Trek. It is a Bontrager Race XXX lite rim (carbon clincher) which is made in Wisconsin by Trek with essentially a fairing bonded onto it to make the deed dish. That is done by HED.
They are pretty light for that much dish and accellerate quite fast. They have a very low spoke count (16). The Disco team apparently really liked them this year.
You’re both sorta close… they’re the Bontrager Aeolus, and essentially they’re tubular Bontrager XXX Lite carbon fibre wheels that Steve Hed bonds a 60mm carbon fiber skin to (similar to the construction of the HED Jet).
