…from an IM?
Do you think it would hurt me in any way to do a 55 mile ride with 5300 ft of climbing? I know it’s probably not ideal but it’s a ride I’d really like to do if it wouldn’t adversely affect my performance in CDA.
Any thoughts?

It all depends on the intensity of the ride…but I would say that it will not hurt you at all. It would probably help you. The only way that it would hurt you is if you fell

I’m doing CDA in 2 1/2 weeks. On Sunday, exactly 2 weeks out I’ve got a 4 hr ride that I’m choosing to do on flats and rollers. On the 19th, 10 days out I’ve got a 4.5 hr ride…same thing. When my coach gave me this schedule I was kind of suprised. He’s assured me it’s not too much as long as I watch my intensity.
I think as long as you keep aerobic you’ll be fine. Don’t hammer the hills…don’t let lactic acid buildup happen in the 'ol quads. Keep 'em fresh.
I am doing CDA as well. My ride this Saturday is a 3.5 hour steady intensity - on rollers (as close to the course profile as I can get) followed by a 30 minute run. Everything longish at this point is about a steady pace. Sunday I do a 45 minute open water swim with a 13 mile run after.
Still doin hills and speed work on both the run and the bike through the week. I can’t wait to get there!!!

All depends on what has been done weeks prior to this planned workout. IMHO, go for it and make sure you recover well this next 2 weeks. Nutrition, sleep, massage. get ready for the big day!
