Looking to build a itu style bike up now that my beloved ordu is gone.
I have a DA group, fsa carbon crank, stem, bars…
Short list created by this thread (Please add something):
Orbea Orca
Cervelo S
Cevelo p2c
EDIT:
Final build:
2011 Cervelo S2
Shimano Dura Ace 7800
Sram Red Crankset (came on bike. Have fsa slk for it)
Fsa Slk Carbon Bars
Dura Ace Cables
Bontrager TT Pro saddle (for now)
For ITU aero, still matters and handling can be an issue. I’d go with one of the aero road bikes that fits you best. Ideally one of the top of the line ones with the super light frames. Best of all worlds except money and its yours not mine, so I’m OK with it.

haha. its always nice when its not your money :] Hoping someone opens my mind to something i havent looked at.
S5, Venge, P2/transition/slice with drop bars, p2k with drop bars

.
Wow Mott, your bike-to-human ratio is off the chart!
I would build a Kuota Kom
good thing, I have one for sale!

naw, it just a fisheye lens thing

look more normal?
For the biggest aero bang for the buck, a cervelo carbon P2 with drop bars and sti-type shifters will outperform nearly everything else and have great versatility to boot.
Wow. Thats sick. Add to the short list.
Cervelo S5, more aero than the P2 in a ITU setup.

yup
.
added to short list…Just so i dont have to start another thread. What kind of Aero loss will i be looking at going itu style vs. a new shiv over 40k for example? Id like to do some road racing this season but tri will still be my focus.
well depends. if you can get in basically the same position on both bikes, the main time loss with the ITU bike will be the drop bars and STI shifters.
for instance if you used an S5 as your ITU style bike, the frame gives up almost nothing to other TT frames. So if you can still get in your preferred TT position - the only loss would be the drop bars.
I’m not sure how the drag of drop bars with sti shifters compares to an aero cockpit. If I was forced to guess, I would guess 30-40 seconds over 40k.

Down to my short list. Orbea orca or cervelo s2. Dura ace 7800, Fsa carbon crankset, bar, and stem. zipp 404 wheelset (maybe 303)
easy - s2 for sure over the orbea
404 for sure over the 303
skip the carbon crankset unless that is just for looks, then go ahead =)
get whatever crankset and put some aero chainrings on it.
Thats what im thinking. I have a love afair with orbea. Had a 06orbea aletta for my first tri bike then sold to a ordu. I know the cervelo would be superfly but a bit more expensive…Id imagine aero wise the cervelo makes the orca look stupid…As for the crankset, i got the groupset, bars and stem, crankset, and such in a package. Just kinda what i have around. Im considering selling the crank to buy a 7800 crank and make it complete. 404 is where im headed, but i thought maybe a 404 rear/303 front would be kind of cool.
