STers, I know anything is “worth” what someone will pay for it, but give me the ballpark of what this bike is worth. A friend of mine is considering buying it and I don’t know what to tell him…

Well unless he wants to ride tubulars full time, he is going to need to change the wheelset.
DA 8 speed is 3 generations old.
Frame is fine.
Serottas hold their value pretty well, but its a soft market & a 10+ y.o. ti frame. Maybe asking price is fair, as he can probably get $250-300 out of the wheels & DA 8 spd gruppo on ebay, but then he has to spend $1k more just to get “modern” technology.
Much better deals out there right now.
Seems pretty steep for a frame and components that are that old. Even if it looks new…thats pretty old. And the reserve is not met yet.
To someone that really loves Serrotta it might be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of the current high bid. But the owner wants more. It’s pretty cool, but it’s not yet collectable or vintage and it’s older stuff…I would find a better deal – they’re out there.
