I am thinking about buying this. But from Ebay’s completed listings it seems that Litespeeds don’t hold their value too well. I realize that if this were a 2005 it would retail for a chunk of $$$. But this is older, note the threaded headset and Ti stays.
What should I offer? Should I care that it’s at least 5 years old?

THIS BIKE HAS BEEN GENTLY RIDDEN LESS THAN 1500 MILES. I BOUGHT IT 3 YEARS AGO FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO NEVER RODE IT BECAUSE OF A DISABLING INJURY HE SUSTAINED RIGHT AFTER HE PURCHASED IT. I HAVEN’T RIDDEN IT MUCH MYSELF.
THE BIKE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. IT HAS SOME MINOR DECAL PEEL AND THE RIM OF THE REAR WHEEL IS SCRAPED IN ONE AREA
The only disadvantage on that bike is the 1 inch headset. The forks are limited in selection, and you will probably need to use a shim on a new stem. The nice thing is that it dosn’t have that stupid integrated headset they come with now.
If you really want the bike, I would think maybe as high as 1500$. The frame and fork would usually go for about 8-900$. The wheels are really nice, and the rest of the stuff is good, but not the newest stuff on the block. Ebay sometimes gets crazy over bidding, I don’t think I personally would go over 1700$ tops. I would hope you might get in for 1200$. Actually Litespeeds do hold their value pretty well. See what 7 year old alum and carbon bikes are going for as a comparison.
Off size bikes are worth what someone is willing to pay. Since the pool of potential purchasers for this bike is limited, if I was the seller, I would take the first reasonable offer I got. I had an XL Softride Rocket TT for sale for more than a month before someone finally bought it off ebay. Other than friends that put in a few camo bids, the buyer was the ONLY person interested in the bike. If you don’t get it for 1400, wait a few weeks and contact seller again.

Cervelo uses 1" head tubes…they must be good. That really does not limit you at all. I would put a threadless style on it though…as you can see no shim needed - it is a quill stem.
7 year old Alum and Carbon is certainly NOT Ti…we all know Al and Carbon WILL break…when is the only question. Ti…just dont have those issues.
I was thinking in terms of updating the bike with a new CK HS and fork. Not all the forks come in one inch anymore and the new stems usually have to use a shim to fit the incher size. If you wanted to keep the old style, that fork is a pretty tough old fork and the quill kine stem should last a long time. It is amazing that some newbies don’t even know what bikes used to look like for the prior hundred years or so. I still use the quill stem on a couple of track bikes and an old Colnago Mexico I have in the herd. For track bikes I think they are still a better option in some ways. I really like to be able to move the stem up and down for events or change bars all together for aero vs massed start events.
