Anyone know? He abandoned Switzerland yesterday after a crash.
Seems like more difficulties then originally thought…
Shoulder… and some tendons ripped. Most likely out of TdF! Too bad, would´ve liked to seem his racing style there again.
Axel
I agree. He really made the race interesting last year. Here’s hoping that he can recover in time…
I am bummed as well. Hopefully this will be something that he overcomes and Jan will be riding for him. I don’t know which is better, Vino riding for Jan or Jan riding for Vino. This has the potential to be a GREAT tour.
From Velonews:
*T-Mobile’s Alexandre Vinokourov has pulled out of next month’s Tour de France after a fall during the Tour of Switzerland over the weekend, spokesmen for his team confirmed Monday. *
*“Vinokourov won’t be on the Tour,” team spokesman Matthias Schumann told *
*AFP. *
*Vinokourov, 30, suffered several torn ligaments to his right shoulder after the fall during the second stage of the Tour of Switzerland on Sunday and will remain hospitalized for a further two days. *
*He was also forced out of the Tour of France two years ago with injury. *
“It’s a very difficult period for him because he was getting stronger,” said team spokesman Olaf Ludwig.
Too bad for Jan. Fortunately for him, Cadel Evans is in good form(just won the Tour of Austria).
So much for the Superteam. No Savoldelli, no Vino, Botero can’t find his form. Who knows, maybe this will work out better for T-Mobile(no chance of the too many chiefs problem).
