What is the real source of SwiftVets funding?

There has been much said about where the Swifties got their operating capital. One theory I heard yesterday was that they were being secretly funded by the one person in America who has the most to lose if JFKerry becomes pres…

Hillary!

lol

I thought you were the source…

30,000 contributors with an average contribution of $65. I am one of them. I just want to hear what they have to say.

Thats great. Really, I hope that all of the 527 organizations find people to support them. America needs more non-media/non-party controlled organization to bring up issues. I’m not happy that the 527’s are mostly partisan attack engines fueled by soft money this election but they are relatively new. I hope by next elections more people are concerned enough with issues to support the 527 that is representing them.

<NOTE: I don’t particularly care of the Swift Boat Vet ad’s but I’m all about the 1st amendment>

I really don’t see why the nominees of the major parties and people who happen to own TV stations should be the only ones allowed to engage in political speech in America.

Preach it brothers.

OK, have any of you guys that support Kerry actually gone onto www.swiftvets.com and read what they are saying? Read quotes from Kerry then read what his own commander and 90% of his collegues have to say about Kerry’s view of events.

The only thing I’ve seen from the Kerry campaign is these guys are “partisan” and smearing his good record.

I just went to the website for the first time. I’m actually pretty shocked. The published record about his first purple heart inlcuding his account and the accounts of his commander and the doctor that treated him are very telling. There are no records published about his other two purple hearts or his other medals, because he won’t release the records.

You can dislike Bush. This has nothing to do with Bush.

I have indeed looked at the SVBT site. I think the argument from those that are against them is that, just because it’s on their site doesn’t make it accurate, no matter whose name is in front of it, or what they say they did at the time. For instance, the doctor who says he treated and remembers treating Sen Kerry, is never mentioned in any of Sen Kerry’s medical records. I don’t know if he’s telling the truth or not, but just because it’s on the site doesn’t make it true.

Well, aside from the 3 guys in the picture who have publically supported Kerry’s view, I haven’t heard that any of the others claim they are being mis-quoted…

And why won’t Kerry release the records detailing his other purple hearts and medals? I think if I were running for office and using my war record in my campaign, I would want the public to know everything.

I’ve heard of people not releasing records about bad things, but never heard about anyone not wanting to release records for heroic awards.

Very strange…

"I thought you were the source… "

If they’re looking to me for funds, they’ll have to cry their message from a soapbox. I offered to contribute, but they weren’t very interested…

You know, $5 just ain’t what it used to be.

“just because it’s on the site doesn’t make it true.”

Right you are. Sen Kerry’s site has his Silver Star with a Combat V, except that that the Combat V has never been issued with a Silver Star.

I’m not saying they’ve been misquoted. I’m saying that just because they said it, and are quoted accurately, doesn’t necessarily make it true. As for his records, there are a lot of things that he would have to release. What he would do is wave the Privacy Act protection around his medical records, which lets anyone delve into his complete medical records during that time. Who knows, maybe he got something from a Vietnamese girl that he doesn’t want his wife to know about.

"Sen Kerry’s site has his Silver Star with a Combat V, except that that the Combat V has never been issued with a Silver Star. "

To be fair, the award citation specifically says Silver Star with Combat V. So the website isn’t lying. It may be shady that that’s how his DD214 reads, but that’s a separate issue. Also, I don’t think there’s any proof that this has never happened, just lots of testimony that people haven’t heard of it before. I took a quick look, and couldn’t find anything that says the V can’t be awarded with the Silver Star, so I’m not sure what the problem is.

Well…I wasn’t a Kerry fan prior to reading the website. My reasons are more based on the fact that he is not a strong leader in my opinion. And I really, truly, cannot get a clear understanding of his positions on issues most meaningful to me. The exception being taxation - he says he WILL raise my taxes.

As far as the site goes…you are correct. All we can do is absorb the information available to us, listen to what Kerry says and what he’s said in the past - and then form our own opinions.

You must be pretty well off if he is going to raise your taxes. I beleive he wants to increase taxes on the richest taxpayers but keep Bushes tax breaks for the middle and lower class.

If you have info that says different please post.

Unfortunately for Kerry, all the money in this country is in the middle class. If he wants more money, which he does, that is the only place he will get it.

Kerry is promising a middle class tax cut. I am still waiting for Clinton’s middle class tax cut from 1992, but that is just me.

“I am still waiting for Clinton’s middle class tax cut from 1992, but that is just me.”

Don’t hold your breath, Clinton’s definition of “is” had nothing on his definition of “rich.”

Liberals like to seize money (read: power). They don’t care who gives it, as long as THEY get it. So they tell the majority: "We’re gonna stick it to the minority (the wealthy) and then when the numbers finally arrive you find out that anyone making $35,000 a year is considered wealthy!

Unfortunately for Kerry, all the money in this country is in the middle class.

Ah ha ha ha ha! Good one, Art!

Oh, wait- you’re serious? Really?

What percentage of the wealth in America do you contend to be held by the middle class? Cause according to any figures I can find, wealth is skewed rather heavily to the upper class. The top 1% alone holds more than a third of the wealth, and the top 10% hold perhaps 70% of the wealth in America. Perhaps you have a broader defintion of middle class than I do, but it seems to me that most of the money in America is, in fact, owned by the rich.

It can be argued, I suppose, that such a situation is a good thing, as this link does, but that’s an altogether different debate:

Me and Tibbs are holding down the last 0.2% - woo hoo!

The point that I thought was funny is the one about SECNAV not signing the award, or not remembering signing the award. I can’t remember awards that I actually did sign only a couple years ago, much less if they were 30some years ago, and I was the SECNAV. There is a reason these guys all have autopens to sign the huge volume fo crap that comes across their desks.
