I couldn’t find anything by Dan on this, or in Dave Scott’s bible, nor on Gordo’s site.
I think I could actually blow frost in my house. My wife had our house set on 74. No wonder the heat is bothering me. What do you guys keep your air conditioning set on?
I don’t. Only use AC right when I go to bed for sleeping when it is still over 80F. Then I turn it off during the day. I’d guess it is mid 70’s when I’m asleep.
From about May till September I just turn them all to zero and let the house self regulate. It normally stays between 22-24 degrees celcius. (74-78 f). In the winter I have it set to 18 degrees celcius (68 f). No air conditioning in the house so at 22-24 it is just too hot.
I’m not going to say the temp but my power bills are very low. Extraordinarily low for Southwest Florida. Last 3 months my power bill has been under $30/ month. I told this to some people at work and they did not believe me so I had to bring my bill in to show them, they were still in dis-belief and just said “you are a freak!”
No AC here - it has been a fairly warm summer in Boston which makes those CT sessions challenging to get through. I have quit early a couple of times - should probably just go ride outside.
You guys are killing me. 74 is cold? You think you might see frost? I usually try to keep my place at 70. However, my A/C crapped out on me, and VA Beach has been really hot, so the place is usually around 80. It sucks.
About 73F. I could let it float to 80, and the humidity outside would still slam me when I went out the front door.
It really is about the humidity, and the AC does a good job of dehumidifying the house.
And then there is work. My office is next door to the server rooms, and they set the building AC to keep the computers comfortable, not the people comfortable. When it’s 103 on campus, I still wear a coat over a sweater to work because my office will be a toasty 62 at best.
somebody please help me understand this. You guys don’t use AC or keep your house in the upper 70s? I can’t imagine. I would never be able to sleep. And someone in VA Beach is going without AC right now? How can you ever coold down after a workout? As it is, with mine set at 70, I am usually sweating. Maybe I’m just spoiled (I like it cold enough to hang meat), but if so, so be it
No AC…live at 2,000 ft elevation. We have great cross ventilation, open the ocean-side windows in the day for the onshore breeze, and just crack the mountain-side windows at night for the cool offshore breeze at night. Puuuurrrrr-fect.
