What is Lou Dobbs trying to do?

What is he trying to do by positioning himself (or at least attempting to) as the advocate for the middle class? Is he planning to run for office in '08? Is he seriously trying to establish a 3rd party?

How sincere is he, since he is obviously not middle class himself?

Just turn him off; he stinks.

I read an article by dobbs on cnn.com yesterday, and really started looking for an email addy so I could tell him how much of a F#$&ing idiot he is.

The point of his article was that we should stop freetrade agreements because of its conservative and religious underpinnings. Worthless.

I like Lou Dobbs, but I think he’s a bit of an enigma. He starts out as a conservative Republican, then does a complete flip and becomes a ultra-populist anti-trade and immigration xenophobe. He’s a bit hard to pin down, and I find his anti-immigration arguments to be tiresome, but I think his arguments regarding big business interference in government, and its use of government and free-trade to ship jobs out of the country while gaming the legislative system to be quite accurate. His other arguments smack a little too much of fear-mongering for my like.

I don’t think that his objections to Faith-based economics are due to “religious underpinnings”. I think it has more to do with his opinion that big corporations taking advantage of free-trade to maximize their profits at the expense of middle class america.

Never seen his show, but just finished a lengthy article about him in the New Yorker (just came today). Interesting stuff.

I can’t stand him. His antics on his and other shows are appalling, if you ask me. I’ve seen him shout down people when he’s a guest on their show. I can’t stand to read his articles as I feel he’s such a jerk.

You ask how sincere is he? I think he’s not sincere at all, and he’s just grandstanding.

In the same kind of genre, I still prefer Stephen Colbert.
