Weren’t they out of TX? I thought they were somewhat local to the southeast. Used to I would see a few of their bikes every now and again but lately I haven’t seen anything. I felt they started off decent with bikes similar to what everyone else was producing and then seemed to go nowhere. Anyone know what’s going on with Javelin?
Timberman was just won by rider on Javelin: http://www.xtri.com/c/cnt/up/img_rep_4204_1.jpg
.
i think it is the case of the ever-moving bike company.
now they’re based in Illinois.
the plot thickens …
www.javbike.com either ownership changed or they moved their entire organization ti Illinois. They were in Arkansas.
Are they continually being bought? Is that the reason for the movement? I’m not sure I’m following your intention.
I’m in Arkansas. Actually thought they might of been housed here in Little Rock but wasn’t quite sure. Maybe that why I saw so many Javelin bikes there for a while.
Javelin are now based out of Chicago

Michael Lovato and myself both road the new all carbon TT bike (LUGANO) at Timberman, a very sweet bike.
Definitely a bike you do not want to let pass under the radar!
Hey Simon,
Could you give a quick reveiw of the Lugano? Would be interested in hearing more about it.
do you know why the move to the chicago area?
new owners?
Nice looking bike. Looking forward to see how your race goes.

They sure haven’t changed much since they first came out. Maybe that’s why they seem stagnent, IMO.
I’m guessing John Cobb is still helping them with their designs, and if that is the case he must feel like the downtube fin does something cause he told Wilier to do the same thing…
Yep. I saw Michael’s up close at The Rez at 5430 a couple weekends ago. A nice ride.
Yes, The owners are out of Chicago, so I gather it just made more sense.
I only started riding the bike last week, and ignored my 22 years of experience and raced on the bike knowing that I was not completely dialed in.
I have been riding the Barolo for the past few years and love the bike so i was a little reluctant to move away from something that I feel works for me. I had the choice to ride either of the bikes in Timberman.
I have managed to replicate my position from the Barolo to the Lugano down to the mm

The barolo is a Aluminum bike with carbon stays so one thing I have noticed immediately was the fact that the Lugano (all carbon) is a much smoother ride, My initial impression was this will make thinks a lot more comfortable for 70.3 and IM races.
It seems to respond well and like the Barolo holds the rode well on cornering and decent, even in the profile position.
I need to ride the bike more, but I feel like it is a definite step up from the Barolo. It is also significantly lighter without loosing any rigidity where it counts most.
Thanks for the info. I have a Barolo ( need to rebuild it as I cannabalized it), but switched over to a FELT DA this year. After having a couple of seatpost issues, but Jeff was able to help me out there, so I want to get it back up as another training bike. It was a hard decision to not go with the Lugano after seeing it at Interbike. Maybe I need one as well. Cant ever have too many bikes
They are in North Central Illinois.
“new” might be an ambiguous term. I think the current owners invested in Javelin at about the same time Simon got on board? I’m not sure if that was during or after Mac’s tenure as the V.P. of Sales and Marketing. I think ownership changed a couple of years ago.
Mac? Care to inform the world?
I cant speak for Mac, but I remember talking with him at Interbike 2005 about the upcoming changes, so I believe it was right after his tenure.
Is Team javelin still in existance? The Arcole is a pretty good deal if one were to sign up, it’d be about $1000. I haven’t looked at Javelin’s bike in about 2 years but damn they are kind of cool.
There geometry used to look fairly bizzare but I have a feeling that it stacks up as fairly average if a person were to measure out the stack and reach.
no disrespect meant here, but it kind of looks like a Barolo in the Triathlete Mag online story:
