I’m looking around for a late season Olympic distance race, and I can’t find anything on USAT’s online calendar. I go to active.com and find one in Bend, OR, scheduled for September 11. Turns out it’s the USAT’s Pacific Northwest Regional Championship.
trifind is the site I usually use, but they haven’t put a lot of this year’s events up yet- especially the races later in the season. I figured I’d check out USAT’s site, thinking they’d have a fairly complete listing of their sanctioned races, but I guess not.
I think it’s pretty pathetic on the part of the USAT, frankly.
USAT does not put the race on the 2005 calendar until after the race sanctions. That is why a number of races are not listed. (You will notice the Florida Great Escape is listed as I send in the sanction application last November) Most RD’s send in the sanction application 2-3 months before the race. Go to the 2004 calendar and you will find all the races that sactioned in 2004 - then go to the race website listed to see the 2005 date. Z

Well, that’s a grand way to have to search for a race. Makes perfect sense to me.
Look, I can see what you’re saying, but they don’t even have their own regional championship listed on the calendar, even thought it’s listed on the page about regional championships. They need a better system, or they might as well not even post a calendar.
