What exactly is cyclocross?

The Rut had a nice sound setup at Highland Park. It was nice coming through the start/finish with some music, especially given how hard the front part of that course was.

I went about one size smaller than my road bike. I am thinking of selling it for an upgrade and will probably get something to my road set up.

The season is almost over!! :frowning:

I did 5 races for my first season and FINALLY… at the last race I did, I actually have other women around me and I’m not riding solo practically in last last place !!!http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h188/trigirlpink/IMG_289512.jpg

sweet!! GO RU!!

I know, I’m bummed. Racing singlespeed has been a blast, and I did far better than expected, I’m also really exhausted. Frighteningly now I want a geared CX bike to step up to the B-races next year.

Glad I did this as part of my training!

Thanks for the supporting words.

TriPinkGirls… Is that Sterling? I was out there, man way that a nightmare of a course… on of the best i’ve ever done.

As for myself… yea, I’ve done about 8 races now… still have like 4 more. Looking to get my last 4 points up upgrade to a Cad 3, the new categories in cross are strange.
As for RU… they’re doing good. We’re leading the ECCC (Eastern Colligate Cycling Conference) with 2 races left… Harvard is secong with 42 points behind. It’s been a good season for Rutgers Sports.

That looks like a steep run-up!!!

Good thing it wasn’t muddy.

Nice run up! Did the A boys ride it?

I have two more races and I am done for the year. :frowning:

Yup… the boys (most of them) rode that. Kurt, did you??? Kurt has a sweet cross bike all Dura Ace’d up and super light!!!

2 more races for me too. Wrentham MA. on Sunday Nationals the 17th in RI

That was Sterling! Fast course and fun! I did not like the barrier run up with the sharp right turn downhill… some women were walkin’ their bikes down that!! I just closed my eyes and prayed everytime I rode down that thing!!!

Very nice.

The course on sunday has a narly run up but there is a baracade at the base of it…and a nasty sand pit. Oh the joys and pain of cross.

This is another pic of Mark on that same run up…

I heard there was only one kid in the A’s who rode it halfway up and dismounted at the last second… that thing was beastly.

Yea… Kurts bikes are amazing… the man is crazy!

It is finally cold and raining here in ATX…I hope the wet stuff stays around for this weekends racing.

We need some MUD DAMN IT!

Good pic showing that steep ass hill… I was trashed at the top trying to swing my leg back over to re-mount…

NO MUD!! I don’t know how to ride in it!! Any tips???

The only mud tips i got are…

  1. Get Michelin Mud 2 Tires
  2. Low PSI… I am 154 and run about 35-38 on a clincher.
  3. Sit as far back on the saddle…
  4. on each pedal stroke pull upward on the bars to have as little weight as possible…
  5. Most importanly… choose the most distinct line… it will be harder packed.

Awesome thanks for those…

Where’s Kurt??? Hello??? Must be out ridin’ in the nice weather…

Slow and steady, 1-2 gears harder than you would “spin” on a road ride. You should feel like Ullrich; powerful, low-cadence, without rocking side to side (i.e. too big a gear). Narrow tires so you sink to the hard ground, soft pressure so you stick. You can run your front 5lbs lighter psi than your rear given weight distribution so that your front wheel doesn’t wash out. It’s really not that hard.

Hey Blake,

I think I was lined up next to you at state’s this past weekend for start-line call-ups. I’ll say hello on Sunday at HOF CX. I’m the tall skinny guy on the IF singlespeed.

That was me… yea… i didn;t expect a call up. I’ve just been focusing on ECCC races… I’ll be a HOF this weekend though.
Man… that kid that won last week?! What the hell! He has like 18 and had a good 2 minutes on 3rd-5th. I hope he moved up a category.
