What else is "leading edge"? (Dan and Frank, please weigh in)

I’m new to triathlons and use this forum daily for learning and entertainment. I started a thread not too long ago labeled “165’s… I’m a believer” and it received quite a bit of attention with some excellent feedback. 165mm cranks are not a secret, but that post got at least a couple of people to give them a try. Part of the resistance, for me at least and others it seems as well, was that they are slightly out of the norm. Some seem to feel that shorter cranks could one of the next waves. Having all of you weigh-in, along with the brightest in the industry, made me think that there’s more to share.

In an effort to consolidate other less publicized tips… what else should I/we consider?

It’s a broad question, no doubt, but I’d love to see what others have to share.

Well, I have applied for a new patent on a new idea for further training cyclists and runners, at least those who believe that technique counts. Luckily for the already PC’ers out there this is something they will be able to incorporate a low tech rendition of this idea into their training without buying anything more from me. I will put out more about this soon (keep checking the web page).

I also believe that it may be possible to substantially improve aerodynamics by some water bottle manipulations but I need more time with this one.

And, most of the stuff here that invokes great controversy is probably “cutting edge”. Only question is which side of the question wins.

Nice reponse. Maybe trolling posts to add wisdom like this counts as training?

short silly posts leave more time for training than insightful ones yes.

i dunno, leading edge…latex tubes, aerowing tires, power meters, between the arms water bottles, pedaling super hard

Don’t forget adequate recovery and being gifted.
