I wrote a previous post about swapping out cranksets in my new CAAD10 Rival (which has an FSA Energy) with an Ultegra 6700 which would require an adapter. I’ve also been looking at native BB30 cranksets and the SRAM Force looks like a good option. The problem is, I’m assuming the 10 speed Force components have been discontinued? I can’t find a new Force in a 175mm 50/34 anywhere, but I did find this one on Amazon that says no cups. Does that just mean it doesn’t ship with the actual BB bearings? Would the Force work with the BB30 FSA bearings that came with my CAAD10?
I would interpret that as no bearings are included in your purchase.
You would have to buy a step down adapter, 30 mm to 24 mm, in order to install them properly.
Something like this: http://wheelsmfg.com/bb-30-shims-sram.html
It just means you’ll also need to buy the bottom bracket to go with it. This: http://amzn.com/B003L9K7G4

Why would I need a step down adapter? The SRAM Force crankset I linked to is a BB30 and my CAAD10 is a BB30 shell.

Thanks. So are you saying the FSA BB30 that’s already in my CAAD10 wouldn’t be compatible with the BB30 SRAM Force?
The word ‘cups’ are normally used when referring to outboard bearings which indicate 24 mm GXP spindle so I assumed you were looking at a non-BB30 crank.
The two ‘cups’ on either end of this type of BB thread into the BB shell.
BB30 BBs don’t have cups, just bearings.

Ah, OK. Man I feel like an idiot when dealing with BB stuff. Wish there was just a single standard that OEM’s would adhere to.
They are both BB30 so I would say there should be no compatibility issues.
Have a look at Competitive Cyclist. It’s advertised a little cheaper there.
