I came across this ad this morning and would like to know what you guys think. Is it a great deal / sound investment?
For sale: NOS Felt B2 Tri frame, size 56CM for 650C wheel size. Included in the sale are the following unused new componants. Shimano 105 wheelset with Sun M14A rims with alloy quick release skewers and Dura-Ace 8spd cogset, Shimano Ultegra crankset, Shimano Ultegra front and rear derailleurs, Ultegra dual pivot brake calipers, Campy short reach Aero brake handles, Shimano Ultegra 8 Spd shifters with flight deck mounted on a flight deck with Profile Aero Bars, Titec alloy seat post, Control Tech stem with used and very clean Mavic bullhorn bars. I can include a high quality lightweight seat, and used Zipp carbon front wheel with the package. I’m asking $850.00 or best offer for the entire package, and a new chain is also included. The only thing lacking to build a full bike is a front fork, headset and pedals.
What do you guys think? My Soloist Team has served me well, but group rides have been few and far between lately and I’m thinking the more aggressive positioning would be of greater benefit. Should I whip out the plastic or what?
Problem 1: 56cm with 650c wheels? Do you have a SUPER short torso and REALLLLLYYYYYY, REAAAALLLLLLLYYYY long legs?
Tom,
Did you mean really short legs and a long torso?
Shorter seat tube compatible with shorter legs, longer top tube compatible with longer torso?
Am I all wet?
Nope. Short torso with 650c wheels and shorter wheelbase (if it has a shorter wheelbase than it would with a 700c) and long legs becasue of the 56cm seat tube.
It is unusual for a person on a 56cm frame to need 650c wheels unless their legs end at their armpits.
Once again, Tom D saves the day. i was so overwhelmed by the thought of possibly finding a deal that I totally overlooked this huge detail. Jesus Tom, what would we do without you? Thanks a lot.

Tom,
Thanks for the explanation. I should know better than to question the expert. I just didn’t understand. For some reason I thought 56cm was the measurement of the top tube, not the seat tube.
Well, remember, I am only doing this over the Internet so I may not be right. That was just a bit of a red flag.
I see riders come in with torsos long enough to justify 700c wheels but they are stuck on 650c’s. As a result their bike handles with too much responsiveness and they have a tough time reaching for a water bottle or descending.
More commonly I see short torso/sub 5’10" riders trying to use 700c’s when they really should be on 650c’s.
Anyway, my .02 cents FWIW.
