How long of a recovery period/vacation do they get?
It depends on their race schedule. There’s still the rest of the cycling season and for the the big names there are also the post tour criteriums. These pay big money and start almost immediately.

drink beer. beat up dudes. do chicks.
Contador’s season is probably over, save the World Championships, maybe. He’s been racing since February. Same with Leipheimer.
Probably not. Like ttracer said; there are all of the post-tour crits that are sort of real races but pay big amounts to tour podium guys, jersey wearers, etc just to start. That’s where a lot of the money is made. I wonder if there is a replacement for Discovery as a sponsor yet?
Even if they’re not doing the crits then most of the guys will still ride (easy) for a few days afterwards. Otherwise the body doesn’t handle it well. That’s what a few of them have told me at least…
Justin
Of course their goign to do the crits. What I was referring to was big races. Leipheimer usually goes to the Tour of Germany or whatever right after TdF but not this year.
Bob
hey, no worries…
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Levi at the Vuelta. Contador, not so much. Cadel? He might want more…
J
What is cool is a “rest” day at TdF (as well as other long stage races) would be an “easy” 70 miles at “only” 22mph or so.
What will they do now? Go back to work - this is after all what they do for a living.
I doubt Levi goes to the Vuelta. He’s finished 3rd at the Big Dance and then he goes there to be a water bottel carrier for what has already been announced as the Jani Brackovic and Tom Danielson Show? No way. I say he takes a little vaca and then starts training for the US Championships and then Worlds.
Bob
hey, I could suck wheel on a pro tour rest day and survive
neat!
it would hurt though!
