What did you play for sports when you were younger?

me - soccer (1st - 6th grade)

   XC - 7th, 8th grade 

 swim team - 8th grade thru junior year 

 road racing - sophomore to now

Played football and ran middle distance.

Youth - baseball and soccer

High school - wrestling and track
.

Soccer till I was old enough to play football (4th grade pop warner).

Football, baseball and golf through freshman year in high school.

Softmore year was golf and a lot of skateboarding (my parents least favorite year).

Then Wrestling and Golf for the remainder of High School. Learned to run as a wrestler.

I miss Little League. Those were great summers.

Before I was 18:

Gymnastics
Bike racing

pissed away college playing pickup ball sometimes for 6-8hours a day. Great shape= lousy grades=even worse knees.

Over 9 years of motocross racing. I guess that makes me the oddball.

football?! wrestling?! and now triathlons… how’d that change happen?

Football 6-20

Track & field: Decathlon and shotput, discus and hammer throw.

Triathlon 20 until now.

Mathematics.

2nd thru 6th grade. Soccer

7th thru 9th. Wrestling

6th thru 9th. skateboarding

My mom never let me play football She said I was too small, she was right but I still didn’t like it.

Soccer - 1st grade till sophmore in High School
Rec Swimming - 3 years told til 8 years old
Club Swimming - 6 years old till Senior in College
…4 year break to work on my drinking…
Triathlons - 2004 until I die!!!

But now my drinking has fallen way behind, my liver thanks me for it

Cross country 8th grade (only 2 meets though)

Baseball, football, basketball through 10th grade

Baseball and football, 11th grade

Football, 12th grade through college; weighed 220 lbs and could bench press over 400 at my peak…currently at about 175 and dropping back to race weight of 165’ish

Rugby in addition to football in college (graduated 1982)

Not much after that until running Bay to Breakers in 1984 and then having a friend introduce me to triathlon the following year.

martial arts 30-35

tri 35-39

neo - roadie 39

swimming, soccer, sailboat racing, and snow skiing

Swimming - started at 6 and by 11, when they started binding our legs together with rubber inner-tube strips for butterfly practice, I’d had enough

Track - on an off through elementary and middle-school (although we called it “Jr. High” then)

Tennis - pretty much continuously from elementary to high-school

Football - from elementary to high-school when they wisely advised me that maybe I was too small and should reconsider playing at the high-school level :slight_smile:

Soccer - since elementary, but organized soccer in high-school (late-70’s and we started the first soccer league in our city)

Surfing - from middle-school to high-school

Sailing - from 10 to my mid-thirties (I was most successful at this sport)

never played any of those as I was crap at all of them!

soccer, rowing. I miss rowing. There’s something about being out on the water when the sun comes up. Then running, tris; now bike racing.
