This was the first year that Santa acknowledged that I was a triathlete so I was thrilled to get a gift certificate to the Running Room, some Bodyglide, geek food, and Gatorade.
I had pity on Santa’s budget and did not ask for either a bike or a wetsuit. But I did ask for a decent bag. Frankly, I was expecting a duffle bag of some sort but Santa delivered with Saucony’s tri bag and I LOVE it.
Anyone else get a happy tri surprise under the tree?
I got 3" of snow and a long day off work. Neither of which I enjoyed much. But it was a peaceful day, and there is something to be said for that. One of my customers, who follows my travels, gave me a “travel frog”. You take this frog whereever you go and photograph it in exotic locations. Interesting.
A couple of neat tri-geek toys in my stocking. An MR2 Racer seat shifter and a Syntace Jetstream hydration bottle. My wife did better, a Hed 60 front wheel. Still have to find a rear to go with it.
Looking forward to seeing how accurate my new Nike SDM/Triax is. Seemd within 2.5% right out of the box today, but I haven’t calibrated yet. Once the snow melts off the local track in the next day or so, I’ll head over and calibrate it.
I also got the new 4th edition of Noakes, “Lore of Running”. I figure it will sit on the back of the toilet for about a year before I finish reading this 1000 page monster.
UnderArmour cold gear. What a great product. Just did a 7 mile run this morning with only the UnderArmour under my thin running jacket in 15 degree weather and I was perfectly comfortable. Its amazing how warm this is for its thickness. Plus when I was done and took it off my skin was DRY. Amazing wicking ability. The stuff is pricey but it works. Thanks Santa.
A New ZIPP 2003 rear Disc. Actually, my lovely girlfriend Ann Marie bought it for me because Santa didn’t think I deserved it He gave me coal instead…
I was expecting the RENN but to my surprise, the ZIPP was polished and wrapped up nice. She said the Renn didn’t match my set of 404’s and was too heavy.
Honestly, I am the luckiest to have such an amazing girlfriend.
haha… be happy you only for 3" of snow. i got 22 in NE PA. But santa did bring me a T1 wetsuit, and a giro lance edition helmet. i havent decided on keeping that though. i just cant justify spending $50 extra just because it has texas and yahoo stickers on it. It is a wicked cool helmet though.
We sold a bunch of those (OK, well, 6) Lance helmets within a week of getting them. I think we got 14 total and we’re down to 2. My buddy Dave sold a Lance Armstrong lunchbox on e-bay for $150- he got it free from Trek at one of their sales meetings. You might want to hang onto that Lance helmet…
well… I have been wishing to get new race wheels for a while, (I do draft legal stuff) I found a pair of Ksyriums SCC’s tubulars, and while Santa wouldn’t spring for all of them, he did help me out. I also got another pair of cycling socks, and some powerbars ;). Happy Holidays everyone!
