I would imagine the pavement… But the ground certainly could have pushed the frame of the glasses into the soft tissue around his eye hard enough to cut it.
I have seen Jawbones cut into the flesh of two different people’s cheeks in crashes this year. The sharpish edge on the “jaw bone” of the frame seems to be what breaks the skin.
Here’s the thing though - if the pavement pushed the Jawbone frame into someone’s face it’s not like the pavement wouldn’t have got them anyway.

I never said it was from the pavement. In fact one case was definitely a forearm that hit the glasses upon impacting the pave.

Absolutely true. Back in the day ('87), I took a nasty tumble in a gravelly corner while wearing my Oakley Factory Pilots. The frame punche in above and below my right eye and I hit hard enough to pop about half of the blood vessels in my right eyeball. The lens stayed intact though and protected my eye from the gravel I hit on impact.
Take your fingers and feel around the orbit of your eye. It’s the thinnest skin on your whole body with hard bone right underneath. Pressure strong enough, from just about anything, will cut right to the bone fairly easily and quickly here.
