Seems my triathlon endeavors are rubbing off on the parents. I am looking for a road bike for my mother. She is about 5’2" and I am looking for either a 44 cm or 46 cm road frame. What companies make stock frames in this size? What about custom? I also would prefer 650c wheels. Any good/bad experiences?
I know trek makes women specific designs. I ride with a woman who has a Specialized 650 bike and she is 5ft even. This other woman I ride with has a small giant she is 5-2 3 or 4. Try QR or cervelo as well with small frames and 650 wheels. Fit is the most important aspect to keep her riding happy. good luck
Trek, Bianchi, Klein, most of the majors… it’s a long list. However not too many shops are likely to have it (a 44 or any size under 50) in stock. I think 44 might be a tad small for 5-0. I just put a friend who is 5-0 onto 47 Bianchi.
The thing you have to watch is the top tube length. A frame may be a nominal 40 or 42 but have a steep seat angle and a top tube of 48 cm. Sizing of small frames can be tricky, even with 650c wheels, so I would try to find some bikes to test ride (this will probably be difficult).
