What body wash do you use?

My skin gets a little dry during the winter. The moisturizing body wash I’d been using last year is no longer available. What are you guys using?

I realize my screen name has caused confusion in the past. I am a guy. I do not want Victoria’s Secret or Bath & Body Works frou-frou smelling crap.

And, pre-emptively, no I don’t want to post this in the “Cry…” thread, or the Women’s, and I’m sorry if my ability to use body wash offends your sense of masculinity.

sometimes i use some moisturizer. Whatever my wife has around. I think it’s some cocoa butter in a pump bottle.

You are clearly single …

I find that even a moisturizing soap isn’t enough to prevent dryness, especially if you’re showering more than once a day. Get a good body moisturizer and apply right after toweling off.

Check out Jack Black body wash. I got some as a sample from a race once. It’s pretty badass. It contains eucalyptus.

Just move to Florida where the humidty year round will keep your skin from drying out. No snow on the ground allows for year round training too.

try neutragena oil right before you dry off. Or if you don’t like the smell (sesame) you can use olive oil. You only need a little bit. Put it on, then dry off. Helps big time.

This. We use olive oil. It is cheap and any residue doesn’t seem to stain clothing at all. And we use Ivory soap.

Do you just use plain olive oil? Does the olive smell go away after you dry off?

Dove cucumber soap. Females love the smell.

Johson’s baby oil is what my wife uses. No shot intended, I don’t use anything and think I’d be slimy if I used baby oil but she uses it right after showering and it seems to work for her. Note that we are at elevation and it is cold. Went skiing at Lake Louise yesterday and it was -20C with a bit of a wind. Any moisture gets sucked away pretty quickly although I did manage to work up a sweat coming down some black runs.

i usually rub myself all over my wife when we are in the shower, so whatever she use is ok with me.

I use neutogena because I like the smell. the olive oils smell dissipates after a while, but it’s good smell. You could use grape seed oil (sold at Sams club), it has less a smell than olive oil. Baby oil works well too, but it smells like baby oil.

I don’t think any of the smells are strong enough that anyone would notice in 15-30 minutes. And I think they are all acceptable smells for men. Especially the olive oil. People can’t really figure out what it is when they smell it.

In the past years I’ve come down with a pretty mild case of tinea versicolor - tiny white spots on the skin (there’s a funny and derogatory term used in Hawaii, they call it “Haole Rot”). I know a lot of endurance athletes deal with this due to sweating. So my dermo suggest I start using a dandruff shampoo as a body wash. I’ve been doing that for a year with whatever shampoo is the least expensive and it’s been fantastic.

My father has had skin issues so his doctor told him to use shampoo (Johnson’s Baby) as body wash, as it’s less harsh than bar soap. Worked great.

As others have said, I think the post shower moisturizer is more important than the body wash. I use Aloe After Sun moisturizer year round.

I’ve been to the dermatologist many a time for dry skin. The routine is as follows:
Kiehl’s swimmers wash after the pool, helps neutralize chlorine.
Wash with dove bar soap only. Most other soaps will dry the hell out of skin.
Try not to let shampoo run down when you rinse. It’s drying.
Gentle face wash. I like Kiehl’s.
Air/pat dry if you have time. Moisturize with something good. I like Eucerin cream.
Kiehl’s face lotion works well for me as well.

For showering you have to keep it under 5 minutes to retain any moisture in you skin. Either that or bathe for 30+.
