Just curious if anyone know what model of Trek bike Lance is riding. It’s not the Madone as I’ve seen photos on Graham Watson’s Web page of his first two races and it looks like he is riding some type of cross between the 5900 and the madone. Anyway, just curious as I was in line for a Madone and then switched back to a 5500 due to being able to get it quicker and not noticing much difference in the ride quality. Not sure it really makes any difference but just find it curious as Trek keeps billing the Madone as “the bike Lance built” yet I’ve only seen him on it for maybe 4 of his last 60 days of racing and I know Floyd Landis isn’t riding it either.
I’ve looked at the pictures, and you can’t see the distinctive seattube fairing or “flare” by the bottom bracket and rear tire, but by the seatstay/seattube juncture or joint I’d say it’s a Madone. What makes you say it isn’t?
They had already said last year that they would be riding a 5900 on the hilly stages and some would ride a Mandone on the others. Look at Heras’s last mountain time trial in last year’s Vuelta, he used a 5900, not the Mandone.
According to the trek site, it is a madone SL. It is supposedly the 2005 prototype. Bad move as far as trek goes. Impossible to get even the “lance developed bike” for 2004, and then it isn’t good enough for him? come on
