I’m going riding! Forecast is sunny and high of 64 on Saturday, and 50s on Sunday. Could be great days for both the motorcycle and the bicycle.
I’ve used a full tank of gas tooling around the neighborhood. I think I’m going to venture into town on the motorcycle and gas it up. First time with legit traffic. I think I’m ready!
If roads are also clear enough of sand/salt will go out on the new Pinarello too! May not need even need tights if it’s in the 60’s by then.

Knotts Berry family weekend that started yesterday, and both my wife and I have birthdays tomorrow. So gonna get as much free stuff as we can, starting with the fancy Starbucks!!!

Been a hellish week at work, going to get some rest and quality time with the family. Sneak in a ride/workout somewhere in there. Weather is getting back to spring, so time to get outdoors.
Heading to Kansas City for the weekend and taking the little dude to see Hamilton on Sunday.

Hopefully skiing on the local muni golf course. They groomed after the 20” over the weekend, but it’s been in the 40s all week and they were supposed to groom yesterday.
Getting new HVAC; heating and a/c. Kind of perfect storm. Yesterday I had an A/C inspection and cleaning, the capacitor and relay are on the edge, system is low refrigerant. 1/1/2026 Colorado enacted new laws requiring a new refrigerant and the old A/C cannot be retrofitted. Went ahead and looked at the heater, it’s got water leaking out of the secondary heat exchanger, so no good there. Also a new CO law regarding new heaters need to be Low-Nox 98% efficient. But, existing old stock can still be installed until exhausted. Price difference between a new-old furnace and new Low-Nox is ~$11K.
So they knocked off 10% and credited me with a couple of A/C repairs done last year and I’m getting a shiny new Bryant HVAC system, and don’t have to upgrade the furnace to low-nox.
By the way, my old furnace was a high-efficiency 96.7% model. New Low-nox is 98%, a whopping 1.3% difference. The HVAC lobby got their hooks in the CO legislature for sure.

Try to plan one more ski weekend for sometime in March.

Finish the Inspector Morse episode I started 2 nights ago but got too sleepy to finish.
Be consistent about my stretching routine. It always gets prioritized last and my family makes fun of me when I do it, so it gets relegated to late night. But I feel better when I am consistent about it.

movies and books weekend for me. Tonight’s movie is Blaze of Glory.
I also bought the stuff to make vegetarian sushi, maybe will do that tomorrow.
Think of Disneyland with an old western set up, that is Knotts. I used to go there when I was a little kid, grandma worked here and it holds a ton of great old memories from the 60’s for me. Trying to give my kids the same thing..

Taper! Swim today and a race bike shakedown ride. Easy.
Hang art on the walls at the new house. Setup the new workbench (yay!). Go to the beach.
Lots of annoying chores Saturday morning already completed. Taxes, car registration, investment bank wanted something, that sort of thing. Ain’t nobody got time for that on a weekend.
Went for an easy run this morning.
Driving to Sacramento to buy a Tumi garment bag for one of my sons.
Then make some curry and ginger flavored salmon cakes for dinner.
Working again. Auckland tonight. My weather app shows it will be windy when we arrive Monday. So probably just the usual, coffee, a big walk, enjoy the fresh air!
Yes it will be windy here tomorrow. We get these windy days every couple of weeks. Reminder we live on an island in the middle of the southern ocean.
Do what the locals do. Ignore the wind. Go out enjoy the city.
Washed my vehicle then wife’s band concert yesterday afternoon then out to eat with her family for her birthday. Today doing our taxes.

Fri - Went out to the golf course for 5mi snowshoe run/walk. GC is miles from anything. Complete wilderness. Nothing but my tracks. Finished the day with a 5hr. downhill ski session. Baconburger, and a beer.
Sat. - 1hr. Basement bike pedal, followed by a 30min. garage strength session. Polished off the day with 5 more hrs. at the ski hill. Home - 2 episodes of Landman/1 finger of 1st-rate bourbon.
Today - Local pool 2k yard swim, 5 hrs. at the hill. Dinner of hm pumpkin soup/salad/brat/banana slathered in pbutter and dark choc.syrup. Fire in the fireplace.
